The only meaningful record Cam Newton needs to achieve this year is.....

It would certainly lock up the rookie of the year award too. I'm just tired of the poor us, negativity, self pity that has been plaguing this team for the past 3-4 years. I'm also tired of waiting to win. I wanna win NOW. This year. We CAN freaking do it!

You wanna be good? You have to shoot for great. You wanna be great? You need to shoot for superior! You wanna win a Superbowl? You need Cam Newton to believe he can win the Superbowl! Before anything else such as skill, talent, "it"...it takes believing in something above all.

And if there's one thing I saw in this kid, is that he believes in himself! He's crazy confident. I'm just trying to plant the right idea in his head. It's like in that movie.....Inception. I mean the guy hasn't lost a game in like 2 years......he should be pissed now! I don't want him to get "used to" losing and to "take the loss well". You hear it all the time. I've heard it myself. It builds character to learn how to take a loss well. Yeah, well I say screw that! It builds even greater character to win, and win consistently. And then win the Superbowl. That's all I want.

In all seriousness, though, I don't care if we do end up 6-10, I just think the mentality should be: SUPERBOWL or BUST until we are no longer contenders. Let everyone else point and laugh and call us crazy....it's what they did in '03 too. I kind of like it like that. Positive energy helps everyone!

welcome back, PFFL, been a while!

I think we should play every game to win and I won't stop rooting or watching until the very end but generally what I've seen of this team so far has lead me to believe they are not quite ready to go the distance this season...when your quarterback has the kind of game he had and you still lose, it's an indication of some serious problems elsewhere.

that being said, I'm way more optimistic about this season than I was in the preseason...

by the way, I think Cam Newton believes he can win the Superbowl, so I'm not worried there.

also, your attitude reminds me of Rex Ryan with less cursing.

Thanks mav. Nice hearing from you too.

And I could fix that, but I might get banned ;)

PS: Still ticked Moore's not on our bench.

Many of us are... but I actually think it was a good split because he has a better chance of breaking through with Miami than he does with us... as a warning, mentioning Moore tends to derail threads into a trolling flamefest with people tripping over each other to look like fools.

No surprise, I'm usually near the top of the posts in such threads. ;)

Well to get it back on track, as much as I liked Moore, and am glad he's going to get his shot, I honestly don't believe he could ever believe in what I'm talking about as much as Cam Newton.

I don't actually think the Panthers have ever had a QB with this much confidence. Delhomme had moxi, leadership and fire, but his confidence crumbled under too much pressure.

This kid reminds me of that silent, confident, leader. He's not the fiery type that will get his team behind him through pep talks, attitude and fire like Delhomme. He's completely different. He's the type that does it by simply shutting up and putting up. He just give me that vibe of "don't you dare ever doubt me"....without actually ever saying anything. In other words...it's like "he's all business".
