This thread will be for anyone who has a question about the rules of Football, or just a general question about the game (terminology, origins etc...)

Anyone can ask any question they'd like, and between all the members of the board, I'm sure we can come up with the rule, definition, or reason. Don't be shy, ask anything you'd like to know. THERE ARE NO RIDICULOUS QUESTIONS.

I saw this on Cockytalk (gamecocks forum) and I figured this could be useful here may eliminate a few ignorant posts/threads etc.

Anyhow for beginners or folks who want to learn more about the game so they can participate in more football discussion feel free to ask anything. I don't know if there is a thread like this ( search isn't working) but if so I imagine this will just flutter away in the distance but if not. Hopefully this could help a lot.

lol I guess that counts as a legit question. Yes allowed but it's definitely not even relatively close to common for it to happen. No penalties.

if a team makes a FG, overtime is not over and the other team gets a try. if either team scores, it's over.

Well most would say the 3-4 is effective vs the pass but not the run .. that's not entirely true it all depends on the person calling the plays and schemes you use. For instance the steelers run the 3-4 but are capable of stopping run just as good as anyone and some worship at the feet of dick lebeau. I guess thereis no reason why we can't switch to one. Rather I figure 4-3 is just what marty preferred to hire.
