Are we headed back into the Luck sweepstakes?

Luck will be good for 3 yrs tops - not with the monstrosity of defensive ends and aggressiveness of the althetic freaks that are running around football teams.

Look at what defenses did to Peyton Manning hes done. He just needs 3 more shots and thats it - and trust me some defensive end or safety out there doesnt want highlights of being picked on by peyton over and over on espn.

I love peyton - hes super but if you dont have anything less than Cam or Roethlisberger - just get used to being a Teir 2 team.

Honeslty - GOD THANK YOU WE HAVE CAM.

Reality is Luck may indeed turn out to be a better pro than Newton.

If he does, so what?

Every year other teams draft great players that it'd be nice for us to have. Doesn't really make a difference as long as the team we have is solid.

Another team having someone better at a certain position really only matters if the guy that you have sucks. Newton doesn't.

I don't think Charger fans are sitting home thinking, "yeah, it's nice to have Phillip Rivers and all, but I really wish we had Aaron Rodgers".

I hope Luck is a bust.

1. He didn't want to come here (yeah yeah he wanted to stay in college, bs)

2. Everybody is crowning him GOD of NFL and he is still in college.

Please!!!!

You sure about that?

I seriously believe the Huddle needs to wake up and catch up. Maybe you guys are still in shock and pre-season mode. We're 3 weeks in. Things HAVE changed!

And yes I know what the article says, but the headline says it all as far as what "everyone's" perception is. The headlines have not been about Luck recently. They have been more about Cam.

The entire NFL writing league is trying to figure out some way to make a reference to Cam Newton in whatever they are talking about.

"Today Brady threw for a zillion yards....to keep up with Cam Newton."

"GB's Collins was out on a play where Cam Newton threw the ball to"

"The Jets blew out the Jags...who will be playing Cam Newton..."

"On an unrelated note, the Giants were not as fun to watch last night as Cam Newton...."

This is what I'm seeing.

Peyton Manning proved how great of a player he is by making the playoffs with the guys he had last year. He is without a doubt the best qb I've ever seen. This year, they will probably win 3 or 4 games with Clark and Collie back.

I read someone making the comment that with Peyton Manning out the rest of the Colts team looks ordinary at best. The article said, too bad we can't go back and change the MVP awards and give him more than four!

Maybe...By all accounts, I though he already was.

Sadly, our media is now running on overkill with Cam Newton. Trying to get Cam's name into every story for web hits...

To bad we can't go back to the days when the most talked about athlete in the NFL at the time was a guy name Dieon Sanders. He actually made Ocho look like a catholic school boy. Back then, the NFl players fought for the media's attention. Today the run from them because of the desparation to turn everything these athletes do into a story at nausaum.

Andrew Luck is going to make Ryan Leaf look like Peyton Manning. Mark my words. Well, maybe not, but he had better be able to throw for 500 yards a game and turn water into triple hops brewed Miller Lite by the time he gets to the NFL after all this hype.

So if the many gifs with all women's boobs and what nots didn't convince me that this was a male dominated site, that comment did the trick..LMAO:biggrin:

when we drafted Cam Newton, we got out of the Luck sweepstakes, EVEN if we get the top pick we still PASS on Luck and the only way we dont keep the pick is if someone offers us a pick and/or a player for him. for example if say a team offered us a 2nd WR and a first round pick just to get Luck we would accept that, but if we cant trade the pick, Luck will NOT be a Panther, they will pass and go with a WR despite ALL the risks. Smith (if i am right) is a free agent and even if he wasnt or isnt a free agent or if he stays, they STILL need another WR and an Alshon Jeffery with Newton will only make Newton that much better than he is and that's scary.

    • I said could, not would. I recognize he has potential based on past performance. Compared to what KP has done, Howell has more potential and the physical traits to make noise. KP has small hands and a weak arm. Not something you want in even your backup QB.  I've been hammering since last off-season before we re-signed Dalton, improve the room. Other than getting younger, I don't see how anyone can say we legitimately improved the room or even tried. We might as well have signed Josh Rosen.  Dalton is still on the roster for now. That's 3 QBs unless we trade or cut him. He's still Bryce's mentor after all. Do you believe we are going to draft someone with potential and give them a legitimate opportunity to develop from the practice squad? Are we going to carry 3 QBs on the active roster? 4 for a developmental rookie? Are we going to potentially cut KP if we draft a rookie and he's outperformed? Doubtful. Cutting Dalton(if we can't trade him) and KP would be 8m in wasted cap space.  I chose Howell as an example because he showed promise in his only full season as a starter. You could plug in another name with the physical traits and potential and what i said would still apply. KP showed almost nothing and was benched. I genuinely don't care if it’s rookie pick as long as there is the potential to develop into a future NFL QB.  As much as I can't stand him, Bellichek was always developing a number 2 QB even with the GOAT as his starter. The wisdom of that was evident when Cassell came in when Brady was hurt week 1 and went 11-5 and almost made the wildcard, which 11-5 gets you almost any other year. I give credit where it's due though. Cassel and Jimmy G both came into the league as developmental QBs, potential QB1s, and went on to have careers.  You never know if you never try. KP feels like a punt in addressing the most important position on the field. Bryce has never played 2 full games of franchise QB level football back to back.  If Bryce progresses, are you ready to offer a 280m 5 year extension based off a one hit wonder year? If Bryce regresses and we need a QB in 27, are we going to trade a fortune away again to trade up to 1 to get one? Are you ready to do the past 3 years all over again?  To me, it's not about Kenny Pickett. It's about the move itself. It was a feeble attempt to improve the QB room. We better hope Bryce succeeds, because if he doesn't, we literally have no backup plan right now.
    • IOL that early isn’t good value at all. We have a LT who might not ever be good again and a RT that might retire soon. T seems deep early in this draft, so I’d go there in the 1st.
    • Season tickets aren't affordable anymore definitely when they've been so bad for 8 years before last season. When I started going my seats were front row uppers for like 38 bucks. Those seats are 100 dollars now. Teams make their money from tv, if I was an owner my goal would be to break even on tickets and concessions.
