2003 Receiving Core Vs Todays

2003 hands down right now, but only 2 games of the 2011 season have been written.

In favor of what most people said, in terms of pure talent this years TE group are much better, and the 2003 WR definitely had more talent.

The WR corp comparison could be closer by the end of the year if LaFell continues to make plays.

What excites me is the fact we have a talented enough passing game to even begin to make these comparisons, but we have had a sub-par passing game since 2006.

However, regardless of whether the offense proves to be better 2011 vs. 2003, there's no way the defense has near the talent or will produce the results the 2003 team did.

Just keep that in mind before the Super Bowl worthy offensive comparisons begin...

2003 and its not even close. Steve Smith was faster then than now by a hair. Moose was a vet with decent speed, and Rickly Proehl was always in the right place at the right time when we needed him, and better than any of our WR's right now not named Steve Smith.

Steve Smith is still Steve Smith, and Lafell looks promising, but even with Olsen and Shockey, there is no comparison.
