2011 Panthers share Similarity to another team

Just three years ago there was a team who looked very much like our beloved Carolina Panthers. Their head coach was entering his third year, they were starting a young quarterback, and despite an immense amount of offensive success their defense let them down as they finished 6-10 on the year.

Didn't see this post. Exactly what I've been thinking. Very good read and very similar to our current situation. I consider myself more of a realist and realized its highly likely were not a playoff team this year(sorry dreamers). Too many injuries and missing components at key positions. We are hover not far away , another good draft or two and some growing from our other players and we could be Superbowl special.

I was thinking that we look a lot like the Saints when Sean Peyton first took over. Lots of passing yardage but a poor defense that couldn't stop anybody. Of course they had Reggie Bush to return punts and kicks though, so they probably had a bit of an edge in that department.

The pass rush sucks what is that guy smoking? We need serious DT help, having about 2.5 solid pass rushers out of 7-9 guys isn't not success.

The linebackers are not providing a ton of help on blitzes and I don't think they will in the future. Davis is probably gone and Beason doesn't seem to do his best work rushing the passer.

The defense overall stinks.

He's right though we do have a lot of similarities with the packers. Very young team with new QB, impressive debut so far.

Rodgers > Cam by a long way. For the time being atleast.

That's a really unfair comparison bro.

Rodgers sat behind a future Hall of Famer for years...

Had multiple full offseasons to pick his brain, and ironically enough is a spitting image of Brett Favre!

Cam has had an offseason with Weinke during a lock out... That's it!

At this stage of his career...

Cam is LEAPS and BOUNDS better than not only Rodgers, but any QB we gave EVER seen in the history of the game.

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
