very true.

as a whole the team is young and making stupid mistakes.

like i said, it will get better, but it sucks waiting for this team to get disciplined. i really hope it happens soon.

i've got to admit, a lack of discipline is really something that i wasn't expecting from a rivera coached team. pretty disappointed in that area.

on defense, i think it's mainly got to do with a lack of leadership on the field. we are really missing beason.

the first PI was questionable at best and the second was downright bullcrap. Every week there are 2 to 3 bogus calls against this team and we are not good enough yet to overcome them

I agree about the first one anyway. Godfrey had turned his head around and was going for the ball. No way Dallas or Pittsburgh gets hit with that same call.

The NFL is getting too much like the NBA, where the winning teams and the star players get the benefit of the doubt over no names who play for teams with losing records.

this is how i'm feeling. i expected to fall short in the other ways that we are, but the penalties IMO are costing us the close games. argue all you want that we need help at other positions. its true. but eliminating penalties would be the cheapest way to get wins.

The refs hate us....whah whah whah....
we need a DT....whah whah whah. hurney is dumb...whah whah whah. playcalling sucks...whah whah whah. andy dalton is better...whah whah whah. whah whah whah. whah whah whah.

that wasn't their only mistake. the other that I caught was the off setting penalties. i forget what the skins did during the play, but we were off sides. We should have lost 5 yds.

Yeah, but that illegal motion was just so obvious. I don't understand how anybody with eyes and a knowledge of the NFL rules could have missed that. Tim Ryan was asking if this was Canadian football after that play.

I agree. The off sides should have given the skins a free play though, and then five yards if they didn't get that far. They held if I remember right. Maybe they were right with the way they called it, but I don't think so.

Officiating is horrible so far for the year.

    • fans view “box safety” with the same disdain they have when they hear “game manager” QB.   but there’s a reason most 1st round safeties are “box safeties”-it’s a much longer list of requisite skills to be a good box safety than it is to be a guy whose only real responsibility is to not get beat over the top. Fans crave the ed reed type and as someone who has never been able to enjoy this franchise having a guy like that, I get the enthusiasm-but I’m not really prepared to spend a first round pick on a free safety. If it happens it’ll be fun, it’ll address a need with a good player and that’s well and good. But those guys end up walking after their first contract because their pedigree usually outpaces what their teams feel like they’re adding to their overall win total.
    • Its criminal that the upcoming season is mainly in the tiny hands of BY.  I still member the time I did a full turn, if you member his first off-season from that Panthers all-time worst team....... Answering questions at his first presser, he goes along the lines " I didn't do nothing, no weight room or throwing" " I needed to get away". I was fully out with him, the guy didn't even try to improve his football mind, body, strength, in the biggest joke of panther football. I could not believe it, what a leader or dare say "point guard"(lols @ NBA point guards as a ref)
    • I view FS almost as the NT of the secondary. Oftentimes the true measure of his impact isn't necessarily in the plays that he makes but what he allows you to do with the rest of your defense to allow them to make plays. When you have that elite true sideline to sideline FS safety blanket over the top of the defense it allows you to be a lot more aggressive with everyone else. Where as when you have a Nick Scott as your last line of defense you gotta be mindful to not have to rely too heavily on that.
