ESPN Picks Between Newton & Luck

And Vince Young started off hot. Where's he @ now?

According to your logic, Vince going 8-5 as a starter in his rookie season despite displaying a 52% completion percentage and a 66.7 passer rating is more impressive that what Cam has done to date.

I guarantee you that if Cam was putting up VY's numbers, yet winning mostly because of a good defense that you and the other haters would be deriding his passing stats.

I would be lying if I told u I knew the name of the site. I found the site back in the Summer when I decided to do some research on Superbowl winning QBs. It was after I read some of the postings on a article on PFT about Terrel Pryor. Someone was defending their opinion that whites made better QBs and Superbowls wins was the benchmark. I was curios to see if it was a fair argument, so I did some research and while doing so, I stumbled upon that site.

It was an interesting read. The study was done in 2007, so if u were to adjust it to today, and all things remain equal, there are close to 700 white QBs in the NFL to a little over 100 blacks. But here is the reality check and where Luck may need a whole lot of luck, and patience from the media...There has only been about 45 Superbowl wins total. Factor in that some of those QBs have won multiple times and u will have less than 30 Superbowl QBs.

Cam may have a steep climb as a black QB to make it to an elite QB level and that means winning a Superbowl but Luck has an even steeper climb because he is already being hyped to be the BEST that ever was and he hasn't even step foot on into the NFL. Yet the class media is already stating he will dominate is VERY VERY exclusive.

That's 800 QBs for 32 teams folks.

25 current roster spots on QBs per team.

They don't know and we don't know until he plays in the NFL. Everything they're saying is mostly hype. I think Luck looks to be more accurate coming out of college. But who knows who grows better into the position once you get to the Pros and who's got the higher ceiling. From what I understand they failed to teach Cam even some of the basics at Auburn so it will be nice once he catches up to where Luck is as far as strategy. Cam's play has a lot more to benefit from that side of the game and he has yet to really combine his mobility, size and skills as a passer into a complete art form at the QB position. Cam's anything but refined yet, while Luck seems to be already there. We don't know if Cam will ever reach that level of refinement, but he's certainly on the right track so far, and I look forward to watching him grow. As far as this argument it's nice to have a QB like Luck who appears to be ready to go and win day 1, but it doesn't mean he has more upside long-term than Cam Newton.

Besides, right now it's more about Cam, Ponder and Dalton. I think Ponder has just as much upside as Luck or Cam after watching him turn it on in the 4th quarter last Sunday, so you just never know in the NFL. I'm looking forward to seeing Cam vs Ponder this weekend. Ponder was very exciting against GB and insanely accurate on the run at the end of the game. I wouldn't sleep on it if we happen to be up by 2 scores in the 4th quarter. Luck, oth, still has to make sure he gets drafted #1 before this is even a debate.

PS: I agree that those two guys are a couple of idiots and sound like haters. They keep talking about the questions surrounding Cam's ability to handle success or losses as if those questions don't apply to Luck. Cam's already done both in college and at the NFL level. Luck's yet to win a championship and has yet to have a 3 game losing streak, or bounce back from a QB rating of 44 in the NFL after throwing 3 pics against a divisional opponent. Cam's done this and hasn't killed anyone. At least not yet anyway. We'll watch him close after his first playoff or Superbowl loss. Oth, you may wanna watch me, cause I may be the one strangling someone if we lose in the Superbowl again;)

Maybe they are doing it for the players? So they have a chance at a career?

How'd Pat White work out? He didn't move and now he's outta the league.

You think Armanti has a better shot at QB or WR? He still has a job because of the switch, would he have one without it?

Shall I continue?

You people will bitch about anything

Intersting video-clip by the way.

As statistics have shown, 2 out of every 3 black college QBs who enter the NFL draft as a QB are asked to switch their position to another position. The the black QBs who entered the NFL this year are no exception. Tyrod Taylor was told during the draft, that he will never make it as a QB because he's to short and he needs to switch his position. He stood his ground. He was picked near the bottom of the draft.Terrel Pryor was also told if he wants to see any play time on the field he may have to switch his position from QB to another position. Judging by what's going on with the Raiders, Terrel may have to switch his position or be a bench warming QB.

You just made up everthing in this paragraph, didn't you?

We're not talking about success, talking about black QBs going to NFL.

You complained yet have nothing to back it up so you backpedal and deflect.

Typical trash on the Huddle these days.

since im at work i dont have the resources to look up those things but here is a list

Charlie Ward( chose to play in the NBA)

Hines Ward

Brad Smith

Micheal Robinson

just to name a few. only thing you like to do is twist things up and argue about somebody that plays for the team that you so called pull for. dude get a life, you( and your posse) is the only garbage around here.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
