First Two Texas Stadium Games Will Be In Prime Time

Posted by Mike Florio on March 29, 2009, 12:13 p.m.

The new Texas Stadium will open in the same way the old one closed — in prime time.

Hopefully for the Cowboys, the outcome will be better this time.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the first two regular-season games to be played at the new Texas Stadium will kick off at night.

This likely means that the Cowboys will play their first home game on Sunday night and their second home game on Monday night, or vice-versa.

Last year, the Cowboys hosted the Eagles on Monday night in Week Two and played at Green Bay on Sunday night in Week Three.

Watkins reports that the Cowboys are expected to open the regular season at Denver. Last year, Dallas also started the season with a road game against an AFC team, traveling to Cleveland.

Possible candidates for the Cowboys’ first two home games include the Redskins, Eagles, Giants, Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks, and Chargers.

The league has announced that the Cowboys will host the Raiders on Thanksgiving.

Going in there and ruining their debut would be ultra sweet.

This would almost make good on all the regular season losing we have done at the hands of the Cowboys in recent memory. Sadly, I think we are probably tied for the 5/6 spot with the Chargers, when it comes to marketability of that game. Seachickens bring up the rear.

Every time we play the cowboys in the regular season we get cheated. They can take their Mike Carey and their bullsh1t stadium and shove it up their ass. I'd be happy if we never had to play those clowns again with the amount of times the panthers have outplayed them and lossed to stupid sh1t.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see us destroy them.

But, but, but we were 12-4 and NFC South Champs. :D

The Cowboys on the other hand suck ass.

Just sayin'.

But, but the Cowboys always rebound the next year. They'll be favorites to win the Super Bowl like they should be! We're just a small market team and can't possibly compete against the almighty lords of football!
^^^ will be the only time I pull for the tie.
Fixed. :D

It will be the seahawks.

Easiest team for them to beat. Less chance of embarrassment.

NFL loves the cowboys almost as much as the patriots. They don't want them to be embarrassed again.

For the record, first team they played in Texas Stadium was against the patriots on October 24, 1971. patriots were 2-12 in '70 and were 2-3 at that point. The cowboys were 3-2. cowboys won 44-21. easy team...easy win. morale booster.

cowboys had just lost a Superbowl the previous year to the Baltimore Colts and even though they had been known as a good team and had winning records for 6 years were considered the team that just couldn't win the big games (sound familiar?). In 1971 they went on to the Superbowl and won it against the Dolphins.

Let's all hope and pray that the inaugural year for the new stadium doesn't bring the same luck for the cowboys.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
