So who do you want with our 3rd overall pick?

Cam + a long term weapon would help this franchise for years to come

Call me blindly optimistic, but if Gettis picks up where he left off we might have a pretty potent (and young) one-two punch with him and LaFell for a long time behind Smitty. I feel like today we just couldn't control the line of scrimmage so if Kalil is there that's my choice.

I really dont think we need to draft a WR yet. DT and CB are by far the biggest needs.

I say, draft Matt Kalil, and pick up a veteran CB like Samuel for a couple of seasons. You just drafted two DTs. If you get another one, it should be via free agency or trade also.

WITH SMART OFFSEASON MOVES ON DEFENSE, the Panthers could compete next season. The Offense is full of vets. If you're going to draft a young guy, draft him on Offense. You don't need a receiver with Gettis coming back, and if he gets hurt again, you'll still be good enough there.

Draft Kalil.

Pick up veteran free agents on Defense so you can compete NEXT YEAR before guys like Smitty and Gross get too old.

I see where you are coming from, but look what AJ Green has been doing this year. Dude is putting up huge numbers. Hopefully Blackmon could do that for us. I'm also happy with Kalil

Green still isn't in the same league with Steve Smith and Wes Welker yet. Why waste a top pick on a GLAMOR POSITION like receiver, when you should build the team from the inside out?

Other than QB, you'd be better off filling glamor positions through free agency.

Huh? What top franchise WR are you going to find through free agency?

You're the main one again knee injuries. Gettis had an knee injury. So if he dont come back the same, we're stuck with an older Steve and defenses keying in on him. Eventually Cam will need that weapon

Is it too late to do it right and get Harbaugh first and not give a poo about the top draft pick? Harbaugh's winning with Alex Smith. Fox is winning with The Golden Calf of Bristol. Can we start for once at the top like all good football teams do: with a GOOD coach?

And build a team around a good coaching philosophy, not a QB? When you have a good coaching philosophy you can also pick good QB's. Funny how it works that way.

What's the Panthers coaching philosophy? Anyone care to explain this one to me? Cam Newton?

Only works for Indianapolis. See GB Farve to Aaron: Super Bowl winners in 2 years. See Patriots: Lose Brady: winning record with Cassell.

See Carolina:

Lose Jake = 7-9 with Matt Moore.

Force coach to go against his philosophy and start rookie QB: 2-14

New coach with no philosophy and rookie QB: 2-7

It's not going to get prettier.

uhm, how do you figure? Not like we're going to draft another rookie and start him next year.

Trade down, trade down, trade down.

We need some significant new blood on the team, especially on D (and no, I am not blaming them alone for the disaster today).

This group will not get it done, even with Beason back 100%.

This. If we do pick that high, trade down and get every top quality D-lineman (especially tackle) and linebacker we possibly can.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
