Football Outsiders updated Panthers statistics

Exactly. That is why it isn't an offensive efficiency stat. Because defense and special teams can inflate it without your offense doing anything. That is exactly Chef's point.

I don't know how many times I have to say it. Saying it increases a teams scoring efficiency is correct. Saying the offense becomes more efficient without being on the field makes no sense.

One last thing though before you all go back to trolling the defense. This is from the biggest, most credible and best advanced statistics football site on the internet. They actually do happen to rank actual true total offense and defense efficiency(even turnover margin adjusted as well as schedule) and they do it weekly. This takes into consideration everything. Including schedule.

http://www.advancednflstats.com/2009/11/efficiency-rankings-week-10.html

Week 10:

Carolina Panthers Offense Efficiency ranking(if we had an average defense) 27th

Carolina Panthers Defense Efficiency ranking(if we had an average offense) 7th

And if you wanna know where the Lions really rank. Just click on the Lion's defense and offense ranking:

Lions actual offense: 26th

Lions actual defense: 29th

We might just stand a damn good chance considering we have the 7th best defense in the NFL when Sunday comes around. And they have the 29th ranked offense.

And when it comes to winning and losing: total offense efficiency(YPP) is what matters. 27th beats 29th and we have the 7th ranked defense in the NFL right now and that should also help. So there you go. But this team's problem isn't the defense. Hasn't been from the first day. And still isn't. It's the offense. Continue trolling the 7th ranked best defense in the NFL though.

You should have had a clue when our D held GB packers to 30 despite 4 turnovers(3.8 points a piece) and New Orleans to 30 despite free points from our coach. Or despite the fact the Titans could only put 30 on our D with them on the field all day long. That should have told you something about this defense.

I'm sure none of this will make a difference.

Now I know you are trolling. That is from week 10..... of 2009!!!

...

2009 is calling. they want their defense back.

http://www.advancednflstats.com/2011/11/team-rankings-week-eleven.html

that's the one for this year, this week.

strangely enough, our defense would be ranked 31 with an average offense.

our offense would be ranked 8 with an average defense.

Offensive rank (ORANK) is offensive generic win probability, which is based on each team's offensive efficiency stats only. In other words, it's the team's GWP assuming it had a league-average defense. DRANK is is a team's generic win probability rank assuming it had a league-average offense.

scroll down, and look on the right hand side for "ADV NFL STATS ARCHIVE" Click "2011" then "November" and it should come up with a bunch of topics. Nov 16 has a topic "Team rankings: week eleven" that you can click on.

This is November, 2011. They haven't updated that since last season. I do like that website though :)

they are updated weekly just not exactly intuitively, as Stats -> Team Efficiency is only archives from last year, but they are doing it weekly this year.

playoff probabilities

scroll down a bit. it isn't at the very top. Under team rankings week 11.

And you are right that it is:

That is why I linked it over a week ago. ;)
