Cutler to bears!!!!!!!!

Epistaxis

Recommended Posts

Sorry guys. I know you're happy you got him, but if I'm going to give up two firsts, a third and a player, the guy I'm trading for had better be a god on the gridiron.

Cutler isn't exactly in that category at this point, and it's by no means certain that he will be, especially if the Bears don't fix that O-Line (something now made more difficult to do seeing what they gave up in the trade).

One note: The terms Epistaxis listed weren't quite complete. In addition to Cutler, the Broncos also shipped their extra fifth rounder - acquired from the Seahawks in trade for Keary Colbert, oddly enough - to Chicago. Still a lopsided trade, but at least you got a little throw in.

Objectively speaking though, you gave up a lot to get Cutler. What you have to hope for now is that he turns out to be the next Joe Namath rather than the next Jeff George.

Cutler for our 09 1st rounder(18th)= Cutler was a first round pick(14th) so I see this as a wash and he's a proven Pro Bowl QB and only 25 years old with a cannon for an arm and I believe the best 3rd down% in the NFL last season.

Orton will go to Denver= don't need him, have Cutler

Gave up a 3rd but got a fifth= Bears also still have 8 picks in the 08 draft and it's a proven fact that Angelo has more success drafting in later rounds anyways.

Gave up our 2010 first rounder= really the only serious loss in the deal but will probably be a mid to late first rounder and once again Angelo sucks with first round selections so I think the Bears will be fine with picks in rounds 2-7.

The Oline did better than expected last season and that's w/o our # 1 pick playing. They've also added three O-line men in FA this offseason and there's still the draft.

Hester would've put up more tds and yardage last season if Orton could've hit him on the deep routes, Cutler can and I look forward to Hester's numbers to inflate a bit thuis season as well.

Earl Bennett was Also cutlers WR in college(good relationship to have on the teamas well)

Bears are still 12 million under the cap and there are still some WR FA out there and there's always the draft as well.

I don't think the Bears got as hosed as some think especially when they haven't had a QB with this much upside since forever.

Understand this.

Jerry Angelo has failed MISERABLY drafting 1st round talent. He has made his bones in the middle rounds. Go ahead and look up his failings with 1st rounders.

This took the guesswork out of it.

The Bears KNOW that Cutler is the most talented QB to put on a Bear uniform, ever, and could be a top 5 QB (provided they give him some tools) in the league.

Given the GM's inability to do ANYTHING in the 1st round, I like this trade.

Was it expensive, sure, if you had someone that had a track record of being able to get talent in the 1st rounds.

Is that an indictment of Angelo.....yes.

So you can say dead man walking, or you could look at it as a stay of execution that was already scheduled. A known commodity vs. another f'd up draft.

And Orton......thanks for the effort. Good guy. Good luck in Denver. We aint lookin' back.

I don't think the Bears got a fifth.

Personally if someone told me we were going to trade Jon Beason, Jeff Otah, Charles Johnson and Delhomme for Cutler, I'd be less than excited. And I actually think he's a good Qb.

Actually they did get a 5th.

Yes we did.

But would you trade Cedric Benson, Michael Haynes and Terrence Metcalf with Kyle Orton for Cutler?

I would

Yeah, from a Bears fan's perspective I can see how a 1st would not seem as valuable.

For me it would be second rounders.

Thanks...figures you know that Bolter. :)

Hill I recall to be a decent player, Wroten was a character issue guy from the get go IIRC. I think they traded up just a few spots, no?

They moved up to 11 ... I remember a few Shams fans being disappointed cause they wanted him in StL.
