It's one of those BS commercial driven things.

The NFL has a deal with a company (Nike I think) and so the players aren't supposed to wear any shoes but those they receive for advertising purposes. It's the same reason that players who are prone to concussions aren't allowed to go out and get custom-made helmets that would actually help but are forced to use Nike made helmets.

Not true. They have a choice of a couple brands of helmets and many styles of helmets.

I read that Munnerlyn was fined for having a personal message on his shoe, not b/c of the color. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I posted this yesterday..

Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said this week he was fined $5,000 for having too much blue in his cleats. But a league spokesman said today the fine was for displaying a personal message written on the shoes.

how do they know this stuff? do they check the cleats, or did somebody on the opposing team see it and say " ohhhh im tellin u wrote on ur cleatssss"

i dont get it.

and also after reading that link.. how in da FUG... does the DE for detroit not get fined for the horse collar he had on deangelo. They can be specific about stupid ass shoe violations but cant be precautious and send a message about tackling people the way the guy tackled deangelo. SMH
