Lakers trade Odom to Dallas (ploy for Dwight?)

Could be part of the plan to add Dwight using the TPE.

I am so confused on why Dwight is requesting a trade. Is it because everyone else is doing it?

EDIT: Although I thought I remember that you can't combine players + the exception in a trade so I am not sure how this will work out.

Any exception created by dealing Odom isn't big enough to take in Turkoglu. I'm not seeing LA's endgame here, nor why Dallas would help.

Have had about 50 questions on this already -- NO, you canNOT combine Vujacic trade exception with this one.

They do have Gasol now to put in the package for Howard, but they may have to find a third team

Odom shouldn't take things so personal since it's a business after all. Either way, though, the Lakers need some changes after the collapse last season. Obviously they'll be getting an all NBA team player due to the league having no balance. So they'll stock up on late first round picks and present them for a future hall of famer and try to keep a straight face when the lopsided deal is accepted.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP)—The Lakers traded forward Lamar Odom and a second-round draft pick to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night for a first-round pick and an $8.9 million trade exception, capping Los Angeles’stunning 72-hour breakup with last season’s Sixth Man of the Year.

The Lakers and Mavericks reached a swift deal after Odom learned Thursday that Los Angeles was attempting to trade him in a megadeal for New Orleans superstar Chris Paul.

After the NBA blocked that trade, Odom declined to report to the Lakers’opening day of training camp on Friday. Odom then requested a trade in a meeting with general manager Mitch Kupchak, and the Lakers improbably swung a deal with the rival Mavericks, who swept Los Angeles out of the second round of last season’s playoffs.

Interesting, the Lake Show picked up a 1st round pick in this deal as well. Hmmmm....

    • This one score game run seems different to me than in the past with the Panthers or other teams.   I feel like it is more about the defense limiting points than it is the typical gameplay that gets those results.  I don’t know why, maybe it is a function of the limited offense. They are going to score around their usual regardless and that is gonna be 10 to say, 23-24 points without defensive scores. Low end, we lose a close one.  Upper end, we might win a close one. Except for a couple of legit GWDs it seems more a function of our defense. To me.  You open up the offense somehow to where we put up some points we would have some two score wins. If I counted right we have scored 20 or more 6 times and are 5-1. 6 times in 14 games. And there have been a couple of defensive pick 6s which I didn’t track down by games. Effing 20 points or more 6 of 14 times? Not gonna get it done. Season high was 31   And that was with a pick six. Rams.
