Chauncey Billiups

Chauncey's best bet is to head to South Beach. He wants to play a significant role for a contender, and I cant think of a better spot in need of a vet PG that will compete for a title. Boston could nab him as well, but he wont get as many minutes.

The Lakers.

Derek Fisher can't cut it anymore. He could be a good back-up, but, his days as a starting PG in the NBA are done, I believe.

I dont think the Lakers would go after Billups. They're changing their system from the triangle to a more traditional offense and seem to covet a younger quicker PG to keep up with the other quick PGs in the west (cough*Paul*cough). A lot of Laker fans feel D Fish is too long in the tooth so bringing in a 35 year old Chauncey might not be their move.

I don't know if they will bring him in, but, the Lakers need him. Not only does Billups shoot better from the floor than Fisher at this point in their careers, but, Billups has also been known as being a clutch player.

Kobe needs a guy he can depend on to hit the big shot, especially when Kobe is completely smothered in the last minute or so of a game.

MIAMI— Chauncey Billups will not have the option of selecting to play for the Miami Heat this season. Instead, the Los Angeles Clippers made his decision for him, claiming the veteran point guard off waivers in advance of Monday's 6 p.m. deadline.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
