Andre Drummond, UCONN

Originally wasn't going to go to a college for basketball but ended up at UCONN. This big man is athletic and has all the physical tools too succeed. A lot of his hype is based on potential but he should be a force at the center position. Would love to find a starting Center and he would be a perfect fit.

NBA Comparison: Amar'e Stoudemire

Strengths: Man child. A physical specimen type of athlete with a huge wingspan, long legs and strength and agility at a young age ... He's already a beast inside the paint with his rebounding and shot blocking ability and shows the toughness and tenacity to be a dominant inside player ... Shows a natural feel for the game with good timing on shot blocks and explosive leaping ability ... Has a huge wingspan (7-feet-plus) ... Born in August of 1993, and with size 18 shoes, Drummond could have another growth spurt in him and could end up well over 7-feet ... Right hander who shows a solid form on his shot ... Right now he scores a lot of points around the basket on ally oops and put backs. He's also beginning to show some ability to create offense for himself and his post skills show a lot of potential ...

Weaknesses: Hype at a young age is never good ... He could end up his own worst enemy if he buys into the hype and decides he doesn't want to work hard to be the best player he can become ... He's so naturally gifted, that he can be a solid pro without putting much work in. Does he have the hunger to be great is the big question ... His range on his shot and consistency are something he will need to develop over the next few seasons ... Developing a killer instinct to take over games will allow him to become dominant at both ends of the floor ... Another key will be continuing to work at his body, getting stronger and putting on good weight.

Notes: Wears the same number as his idol (#12) Dwight Howard.

Center, Patric Young is playing Texas A&M (22) today at 2:30.

Young is physically built and has really improved from his freshman year. A lot of that has to do with playing time. He is only about 6'10', but he is strong enough to body down low on defense. His offensive post game is improving but could use more polish.

      Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?

      Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.

      Willis was impressive last night given the circumstances. GB and SF seem to just have it figured out as far as QB goes.   It's frustrating, but I enjoy seeing our old players find success elsewhere.
