Brisket!

Anyone else cook on a smoker? My wife bought me one for my birthday back in November and I have five smokes of chicken, ribs, and a turkey for Thanksgiving. Have a 16 pound brisket on the smoker now and it should be down around 2:00 pm tomorrow!

yeah, its gas tho.. so I probably piss off the bbq godz. Was actually thinking bout doing a lil cheap chuck roast in the morning.

I've had a few different smokers in my day. Love them. I smoked a turkey for thanksgiving once. Took about 6hrs, but it was the best damn turkey I've ever had. Right now, I have a big green egg. That thing rocks.

I want one of those so bad. I made a so- so dofer out of 2 large clay flower pots but I still want one.

The Green Egg is way out of my price range as I am a poor state employee. I have a Weber Smokey Mountain (22.5") and it has worked great so far. Started the coals around 9:30 last night; just came back for checking the temperature of the smoker and it is sitting at 230 degrees.

I am trying to keep the temps between 220 and 250 for the brisket smoke... So far so good. I used mesquite wood chunks which I have heard bot good and bad things about; I am hoping the brisket turns out OK! I figure I am probably about half way through the smoke and am looking forward to a few beers, some brisket, and some football later on!

Ranucci I've heard you know a thing or two about Bar B Que! Do you sell your rubs at your restaurant? If so, I may need to ride over and get some!

Brisket turned out pretty good! Had a few say it was the best meat they have ever tasted! Learned a lot from this smoke and am looking forward to smoking some Boston butts and chicken wings for the Superbowl!

    • Also, you don't really get good value by drafting a center in the first.
    • First off, we haven't been ignoring the defense. We have drafted several defensive players, but, perhaps more importantly, we have added good pieces in free agency. Secondly, the offense was still kinda bad (27th or so depending where you look at). You can't just say we can't pick an offensive guy while acknowledging that the offense wasn't good. Everything is on the table. Like I said above, it seems kind of counterproductive to say that we shouldn't draft an offensive player high unless they're at certain positions. The offense was mediocre at best. Sure, we had an uncanny knack to win some close games at opportune times, but the offense wasn't really good. To me, it makes little sense to put limitations on who/what we should draft when we need an upgrade at so many positions. What you look at is trying to get the best value--bang for your buck so to speak--and that's the way it should be. D-Mo has used FA to set up the draft in order not to be pigeonholed into anything, and that's the way that it should be.
    • Hubert has plenty of money. I don't hate the guy. I think he a legit good guy. This is Ron Rivera all over again for me. It's just very obvious a coaching change is needed and it audka we gottaboart ways with a good guy and I'd much rather it work out but the same issues appearing again and again year after year are clearly shouting what needs to happen. With that said, if we hire Todd Golden, that's it. I'm out. I'd greatly prefer to just keep getting disappointed by Hubert. I can at least stand to root for that.
