ESPN's 2009 Strength of Schedule

According to ESPN's John Clayton, it's going to be an uphill struggle for us in 2009 because of our second-ranked strength of schedule:

Our history after playoff years:

1996: 12-4, Won Division

1997: 7-9, missed playoffs

2003: 11-5, Won division

2004: 7-9, missed playoffs

2005: 11-5, Wild Card

2006: 8-8, missed playoffs

2008: 12-4, Won division

2009: ?

because history is always the accurate gauge of the future.

we are doomed to repeat what has happened in the past.

mail it in guys....it's much easier to go with no hopes so that you can't be crushed if things don't work out.

#1 draft pick here we come! The Golden Calf of Bristol!!!! :hurray:

woot! should we even play the season or should we see if we can go on a streak that makes the lions think we suck? sounds like we're almost there anyway.

Your schedule is brutal, and it's the exact same non-conference schedule the Cardinals played last year. With the parity in the NFC south it's even tougher.

I see we play you guys again in Arizona this year. Some how we seem to play each other every year. I am sure you will want some revenge after the beat down you experienced in the playoffs. :beatdeadhorse5:

See you guys in Arizona this fall

I believe its like the 6th consecutive year the Cards and Panthers are meeting up... Yea, I'm excited to see that game aswell..

Can't forget about the first game, how Carolina won by some kind of miracle when the Cardinals kicked their ass the entire game. Then how the playoffs played out and the Cardinals stood no chance, walking into the Panthers stadium where they were 8-0 and dissecting every faucet of the Panthers team.

Basically, force Jake into making mistakes with the game close and then build a bit of a gap so the Panthers abandon their bread and butter (the run game)... then sit back with your popcorn and watch Jake's amazing ability being highlighted lol..

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
