Mock draft v.2

1st Round

1-Colts-Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

-It's almost certain that Luck will be the 1st pick.

2-Browns(from Rams)-Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

-Browns have the most ammo to move up to get their franchise QB.

3-Vikings-Matt Kalil, OT, USC

-Great pick for the Vikings. Best offensive tackle prospect since Joe Thomas.

4-Rams(from Browns)-Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

-Sam Bradford would be a happy man if St. Louis drafts the next Larry Fitzgerald.

5-Buccaneers-Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

-Corner is a deep position, not so much for RB. Richardson will be Adrian Peterson of the South.

6-Redskins-Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa

-Washington doesn't get Blackmon or Griffin, so they take a franchise tackle for whoever is taking snaps next year.

7-Cowboys(from Jaguars)-Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

-I'd hope that this wouldn't happen, but the Jags want to trade back, and the Cowboys need a corner.

8-Colts(from Dolphins)-Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford

-Manning to Miami. Hard to predict a player trade, but I'll give it a shot. Indy would get a franchise tackle for Luck.

9-Panthers-Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

-Best player available who fills a big need. Coples and Charles Johnson would be a great tandem for years to come.

10-Bills-Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB, Alabama

-Buffalo has stated that they are going to get a pass rush this offseason. Upshaw would be a great place to start.

11-Chiefs-David DeCastro, G, Stanford

-Tough choice here between DeCastro and a corner if Carr leaves. Until free agency begins, DeCastro it is.

12-Seahawks-Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

-Seattle could take Tannehill here, but I doubt Carroll and co. see him as an imediate upgrade over Tarvaris Jackson.

13-Cardinals-Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

-Should either be Wright, Michael Floyd, or Mike Adams. Zona' is in dire need at both positions.

14-Jaguars(from Cowboys)-Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

-Jacksonville acquires an additional pick and still lands who they want. Floyd would be Gabbert's best friend.

15-Eagles-Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

DRC is a bum, Samuel is owed a ton of money, so I don't see either of them back. Kirkpatrick would be a nice fit with Nnamdi.

16-Jets-Melvin Ingram, DE/LB, South Carolina

The Jets need just about everything except corner, but a pass rush is the biggest. Ingram could line up all over the field for them.

17-Bengals(from Raiders)-Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

It's either Cordy Glenn or Janoris Jenkins. Both guard and corner are deep in FA so it's a toss up. Jenkins wins BPA.

18-Chargers-Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB, Illinois

Larry English blows, and aside from Shaun Phillips San Diego has no pass rush. This could also be Mike Adams or Mark Barron.

19-Bears-Cordy Glenn, G/T, Georgia

-Chicago also needs almost everything, but a horrific o-line is the worst. Glenn would be a great fit in Chicago.

20-Titans-Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College

-I'd imagine Baltimore would be trying to trade for this pick, but the Titans also need an ILB after losing Tulloch last year.

21-Steelers(from Bengals)-Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

-How did Pittsburgh get this pick? Mike Wallace...that's how. Cincy needs a deep threat to pair with Green. Adams would fit the Steelers scheme perfectly

.

22-Rams(from Browns via Falcons)-Devon Still, DT/DE, Penn State

This is a tough pick to mock. I just see it being being between Devon Still and Mark Barron. A pass rush would make what safety's they have look better.

23-Lions-Donta Hightower, LB, Alabama

-This would be a strange pick, but I have a feeling this is going to happen. Tulloch is likely to leave via FA and Hightower is capable of playing MLB, SLB, and some DE.

24-Steelers-Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis

-Casey Hampton is done and Poe has the potential to be a Haloti Ngata type of player which the Steelers would love to have.

25-Broncos-David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech

-John Fox is going to explode when he sees Wilson at the combine. Wilson could run in the 4.3's and would remind Foxy of DeAngelo Williams.

26-Texans-Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

-Houston could use a WR at this spot, but I don't see any of value right now. Instead, they get the DeCastro of center's to anchor their o-line for the next 10-12 years.

27-Patriots(from Saints)-Fletcher Cox, DT/DE, Mississippi State

-Cox can rush the passer like any DE in the draft, he just isn't any good against the run which is why he isn't a top 15 pick.

28-Packers-Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC

-It should be either a DE or rush LB for the Packers and Perry is BPA between both positions at this point.

29-Redskins(from Ravens)-Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

-The Ravens couldn't land anyone they need, so they acquire more picks. Tannehill's athleticism should make him a good fit in Washington.

30-49ers-Kelechi Osemele, G/T, Iowa State

-Like the Texans, San Francisco needs a WR, but can't get one without reaching. The next biggest need is arguably G and I see Osemele having a great combine.

31-Patriots-Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall

-This could be considered a slight reach, but not as big of a reach as it would be for corner which is their biggest need besides a pass rush.

32-Giants-Orson Charles, TE, Georgia

-Another player that I see having a great combine. This could also be Dwayne Allen or Coby Fleener, but this is a copycat league and NY will acquire their own version of Aaron Hernandez.

Carolina mock

1-Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

2-Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana

4-Keenan Robinson, OLB, Texas

5-Chris Rainey, RB/WR/KR, Florida

6-Akiem Hicks, DT, Regina

7-Bryan Anger, P, Cal

7(comp)-Alex Hurst, OT, LSU

Wouldn't be surprised if Manning went to Miami, I just don't know if it'll get done before the draft. If I had to guess, Colts would probably get a 2013 1st rounder. Beyond that I could see some of this happening.

Ehh I would say conditional 2nd that could go as high as a 1st or as low as a 3rd based on playing time, statistics, and playoff wins.

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
