Clausen's time might not be done...

i still dont know why you guys hate this kid so much. some people can come in and be studs right away, like Newton. Some take time. Only one NFL executive saw anything in Farve, Steve Young, and countless other QB's only for them to go on and have fantastic careers. Remember it was technically his senior year of college when he started for us. Yes, i know that same can be said for Newton but I addressed that at the start of my post.

3 years to be groomed in the NFL and who knows what he could look like in a preseason/relief. Then you ship him out for a Kevin Kolb/Charlie Whitehurst trade, win.

Young and Favre at least had raw ability. Mobilty

and a rocket gun.

Physically Clausen has nothing to hang his hat on.

Plus, being scared in the pocket has never been a fixable thing.

Also, if your going to groom a kid he needs to fit your scheme. Every year he takes up space on our roster the odds of him developing get smaller. Fitting your offense is too huge

For the record, I don't hate Clausen. He hasn't done anything on the field to suggest that he should keep his roster spot. I hope that one of the other 31 teams will give us something for him, anything between a 1st and 7th would be better than an inactive player for the season. Everyone should be able to contribute. Can you envision what our offense would look like if Cam went down? RR did, thats why Clausen stayed inactive.

What about Gabbert makes you think of Clausen?

Pocket poise- both our scared of pressure and will not stand strong in the pocket.

Dink and Dunk- both barely attemptd intermediate to deep routes. Mainly short passes for short gains.

Fumbled snaps- Clausen might have been worse, but Gabbert reminded me of Clausen a lot with that.

Lame Duck Coach- Ive been saying this on other forums, that i feel like Del Rio was in Fox's 2010 shoes, in 2011. Jags might have had more wins. But two were vs Manningless Colts.

Funny how Fox and Rio now are in Denver.

1. Gabbert's pocket presence issues almost disappeared at the end of the year.

2. Nobody ran intermediate or deep routes, or got any separation. However, Gabbert proved he can make the deep throws, as show here:

3. Gabbert didn't fumble that many snaps. He fumbled alot, but not many snaps. Then again, he also had zero protection. That can be improved on.

4. Gabbert has a new coaching staff that are committed to him for the time being, something that Clausen never had. Maybe Clausen would have been much better this year had Cam not taken his spot, but who knows. Maybe Gabbert gets better next year, maybe not.

It's way too early too tell, but Gabbert, so far, has looked far better.

I didn't watch all of Gabberts games....but pocket issues seemed to a be consistent issue. doesn't mean there won't be examples of him staying in.

Gabbert did look better than Clausen. Clausen imploded an offense and was pathetic. Gabbert was just really really sad.

.

It was a consistent issue for a while, and then it wasn't, for the last few weeks of the year.

The difference is, I did watch all of Gabbert's games.
