Roundabouts

in a roundabout entering traffic must always yield to traffic already in the circle, whereas in a traffic circle entering traffic is controlled by Stop signs, or is not formally controlled

I think a large percentage of North Carolinians have never traveled more than 5 miles from their home... roundabouts are far too complicated for them to figure out.

I haven't been behind anyone who stops at every intersection, but there are usually only two that I pass through. One has been there at least 8 years now and people are still intimidated by it.

And another thing... a silly pet peeve of mine. You do not use your turn signal when entering a roundabout. You only use your turn signal when exiting the roundabout.
