Panthers Fans Should Stop Worrying About Cam Newton Leaving

Everybody is all worked up because of LeBron. To be honest, the NBA and NFL are two different animals. In the NFL, there is a much bigger connection with the fans of a particular city, IMO.

In addition, the Cavs were never willing to put a team around LeBron. They were cheap and basically thought he could do it himself. Our front office, as much crap as it gets, is decent enough to actually build a team around Cam.

Bottom line, we shouldn't be worried.

This concludes my drunk post of the night.

Cleveland spent money. More than most teams. They just sucked at it.

literally no one thats not a complete vagine is actually worried about this

That's an insult to the vagina toting among us that have kept their poo together. The "Wholly poo, Cam is Gone In A Couple Seasons" contingent seems to be made up of a bunch of dudes that got dumped or something.

I wish I had a GIF of that Falcons fan yelling "Get'em!"

It's funny that everyone here is jumping all over the OP as if he did something wrong.

We have all read at least 1,000 posts at random times with fans on this board saying "enjoy it while it lasts" or "until he leaves" or "we won't be able to afford him"

The op is reminding the idiots that post things like that. If the shoe fits, then wear it. If not keep doing what you've been doing

If Richardson wants him here, he will be here. The league has tha much respect for JR.

lol yea...JR is going to live forever! 5 more years alive and he'll be breaking medical records. Just trying to be realistic. Cam may like JR but he is going to have to like the next owner/front office too, remember that.

Even then, the Panthers hold an option on a fifth year, at a salary based on the average value of the five highest-paid players at his position. After that, the Panthers can use the franchise tag for as many years as they want.

Stupid. Complete disregard for Cam. Why have another Collins/Peppers situation, if Cam wants out? Let it go, no team needs someone who doesn't wish to be here.

Guys I think we all need to cheer Cam on and give him all the support he needs to grow and thrive here and at the same time, while I am not going to worry about it now, and think it's stupid to speak for Cam (staying OR leaving) if he wants to go somewhere else, we should all respect that and accept it.

I am a fan of Cam, would love for him to retire here but at the same time, it's 100% Cam's decision out of respect.

my 2 cents

I think it depends on the success this team has. If the FO can't put a winning team around Cam by the time his contract is up, then he'd have all right to want to go and find some place else. Get it done FO!

Cam ain't going nowhere. When the time comes, he will be the richest man in the nfl, and he will be donning our slick new all black unis.

Seriously though, not only does he have the opportunity to make the Panthers HIS team, but he has the opportunity to make the Carolina's all his too (speaking from a sports standpoint). That, combined with the huge contract he will be offered, combined with his respect for a franchise that didn't subscribe to the character defamation he went through, combined with our 3 consecutive SB championships means Cam will have a statue throwing a statue football to a Smitty statue outside of BoA.

The only "fans" that have any worry are trolling on the CO comment sections, and though there may be many of them, they are nothing more than idiots and detractors. They are the same people who hated the thought of drafting Cam last year.

Guys, can I just be frank? This is the stupidest fear of all time.

1) We can franchise tag him into infinity. Furthermore, this isn't the NBA: we aren't some red-ink bleeding franchise with a crap infrastructure that can't afford to put talent around him.

2) If we're not winning on a consistent basis that falls on his shoulders, because good quarterbacks win more than bad ones.

3) To play amateur psychologist for a moment, Cam is NOTHING like Lebron James (who seems to have wrecked franchise stability across the sports landscape.) Lebron faced nothing but media adulation throughout his high school and early NBA career, with tags like "chosen one" and the "next Michael Jordan." Lebron developed a need to "be needed" and fawned upon, and when the time came to live up to his own hype he shirked the moment. Cam was thrown out of college, shipped to the boonies and forgotten: everything he has earned to this point HE EARNED through incredible hard work and determination. Gene Chizik didn't want Cam at Auburn, the NFL didn't want Cam to be #1, and half of this fanbase didn't want Cam as our QB. And through it all Cam has never blamed anyone or responded with anything but a smile and a promise to improve. Everytime Cam has been challenged he has responded with resiliency and charisma: he is the anti-Lebron, and far closer to the "next Michael Jordan" than Lebron will ever be.

Cam wants to be the one to lead the Panthers to glory, and given his history of facing and defeating challenges I daresay he will do it sooner than we think.
