Which is why be brought in safety competition.

Yep. Improve S play and the front should be better this year regardless....seconday will look better.

Carolina likely is going to have to go out and find a stud S soon if no one breaks out though

If Capt is on that field playing a starting role we have a mismatch problem that no safety can help.

Two words. "Coverage Sack." Good DBs can make your line look good. It can work both ways.

We have two promising WRs coming into their third year.

We have a bunch of young talent on the D-line.

We have Hogan and Bell. Two guys we are high on.

Hell, even Martin is viewed as promising.

Point being. We already have a ton of potential. We must draft players that can contribute. Whether that be on Offense or Defense.

Man, this stuff is great for my giddy. And GOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I explained in another thread, if your DL sucks, it doesn't matter if you have 3 Revis-calibre CBs because you'll either get run over or dinked and dunked underneath all day. Then your CBs or Safeties start cheating up to help on the run/underneath passes and your CBs get all that much more pressure put on them. Good front 7 = make avg CB's look good. The reverse isn't true.

So you are telling me that if I have 3 quality CBs who can play press man to man, I am still screwed if I do not have a dominant D-line? Er, front 7. Oh, okay.

If you can cover, you can give the front 7 time to get to the QB. It really is that simple. Hence the phrase "Coverage Sack."

Hey, don't get me wrong. I want us to generate pressure with our entire front seven. Hell, from the entire D for that matter. Blitz from any, and every, where. And with a full off-season, I plan on seeing the whole play-book this year. That alone should improve the D.

Rivera has a good hold of what Hogan can do. If Hogan is a solid #1, we may wait to take a CB. Whereas, if Hogan is at all iffy, we may try and get a CB early.

D-line... If they see talent at the pick, they may just take it.

WR... if the value is there, would be hard to pass.

LB...the heart and soul of a D. We are in the unenviable position of being clueless about this position. To me, this is the most interesting position to watch going forward.

The truth of the matter is, there are precious few who have an inkling of what the brain trust has in store. I will venture a guess, and call that the Panthers could care less who they draft. They just want players with talent, heart, work ethic, and a certain level of playmaking ability. You can always find a spot for those type players.

Zod my giddy loves this place.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
