Bobcats Rebrand Update Thread (Real Charlotte Fans-Censorship Free Edition)

People should keep in mind that the NBA wants Charlotte basketball to succeed. If they begin to feel like the only way for the Charlotte franchise to survive or prosper is to change the name back to the Hornets, not only will they support the re-brand David Stern will actively lobby MJ to make the change.

NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver could have easily avoided the re branding issue by saying "no comment".

The fact that he chose to say he would be discussing the possibility with MJ gives the Hornets re brand movement legitimacy at the highest levels of the NBA. Silver added, “It may be a win for both franchises.”

You know the deputy commissioner would not have said anything about a sensitive issue like the Hornets re brand without the blessing of David Stern.

Definitely @PanthAZ... I have a feeling that this has been in the works for awhile.

Bigfurry posted the "big announcement" thread, and I'm sure he's not allowed to disclose anymore "announcements" after that, lol, but I suspect the stop on all ordering of Bobcats merchandise for the team store a few weeks back were in part because Stern let MJ know the name would be coming available. Add that to the local movement that's been getting coverage lately both regionally and nationally, the "no comment" instead of a denial from the Bobcats, and now this...

Looks like the Hornets are coming back home.

I do recall that thread. Really thought Bfurry was going to get the pink slip for a breach of security. Hadn't given it much thought since then, but you may be on to something with that theory on the Bobcats merchandise.

Seems like most fans are ready for this to happen. If it does, I really think it will benefit the team tremendously.

Landry is a free agent-Based on his comments, I guess he wants to sign in Charlotte.

The name change is looking like it's going to happen.... No way in hell, Adam Silver comments on it publicly without some talks having already taken place

Nah, Landry wants to stay with the Hornets in New Orleans.

So now its Silver was in town to talk about rebrands, when he nor the Bobs ever said such a thing. LOL. You guys are left grasping at straws and Rick Bonnell tweets. Anything to extend that 15 minutes of local fame.

    • we probably aren't interested (I would be).  But with the massive improvements on our DL via FA and the draft, the DBs will have an easier job this year
    • Why is it so hard for some people to understand its not about similar styles and one team is better at it than the other. Its about 1 team, us, that isnt even playing their own style and look demoralized from the moment the puck drops and then playing like dogshit. That is all on Rod.
    • Respectfully man if your entire argument is based off of a simple pff score lookup then your argument is severely flawed. There is a reason Mike Jackson signed a two year 10 million dollar deal and Jaycee is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Secondly, I don’t get the comparison to our huge need at pass rush last year. What does our massive and historic lack of talent at rushing the passer have to do with a weakness on this years roster?
