Is It Just Me?

Everyone who keeps stating CB is our biggest need...I don't get it.

1.Rivera finally brought over the DB coach he wanted.

2. Creating a better pass rush will GREATLY better our pass defense

and most importantly.....

Why spend a second round pick on a CB, when we have a 2nd round guy who is just waiting to show us what he can do and has already had a year to learn our defense??

Without his injury, Brandon Hogan would have likely gone in the second round. The kid has talent.

http://www.nfldrafts...=2011&genpos=CB

Taking a CB in the first would be a mistake as Claiborne will not fall to us and anything else would be a reach, especially with the lack of a pass rush we currently have. Jenkins won't fall to the 40th pick. I'm sorry, but media is overhyping his situation. No one cares he has a ton of kids or smokes pot. hell, look at the Detroit Lions. He may be the second best corner in the draft and will be gone late first round tops. So who out there would be that big of an IMMEDIATE upgrade over Hogan in round two?

My wish...

Round 1- Fletcher Cox or Quentin Coples- Best Pass rusher Available.

Round 2- Best Pass rusher still on board at the D-line position not addressed in round 1.(Vinny Curry or Jerel Worthy, etc.

Round 4-Joe Adams (The final piece to our Special Team problems and perhaps a Steve Smith 2.0?)

Round 5- Anger or Drew Butler- The two best punters on the board.

Round 6,6,7- LB and OL projects

I dont think Hogan can be a lock down no. 1 corner.

Jenkins, Dre, and Gilmore could potential be that.

Which we could trade back and get one of those guys without reaching.

If not, I like the idea of getting Cox and Curry / Perry / Jones. Thats one hell of a DL pass rush haul!

Only downside is not getting a good CB or LB.

But if we could some how get a 3rd then we could come away with a good LB.

    • I think i like the Oregon Safety better
    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
