What do you guys think?

Minnesota is the real pivot point at three which sucks because it’s so early. Sounds like they’re considering three options but we went with Claiborne because I trust Schefter over anyone else. But if they go Kalil or dare I even say it, Blackmon, it throws everything off.

A few surprise picks, I know. But the NFL Draft is always a surprise. Overall thoughts?

Panthers WILL NOT pass up Blackmon. There are two offensive guys who if somehow there at #9 it will likely take less than a minute to get the card in. Matt Kalil is one, and the other is Justin Blackmon. Blackmon WILL be the pick if your scenario plays out...

Eh, not a huge fan.

I like Kuechly, Still, and Menzie. The others I'm not a huge fan of or I feel liked we reached especially on McNutt who is in most Panther fans mock drafts that I have seen in the sixth round.

I've done this before, so I will grade you pick by pick.

1. Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College (B+): I like the pick, but I think if you are going to take a player in the top ten he needs to be a starter right away and Kuechly wouldn't start over Davis or Anderson.

2. Devon Still, DT, Penn State (A+): Great pick, the Panthers get good value in the second round at a position of need in a player that was once projected to go in the top fifteen picks.

3. None

4. Ron Brooks, CB, LSU (D+): I'm not a big fan of 5-10 corner unless they play bigger than their small frame, much bigger (i.e. Janoris Jenkins). The Panthers already have to good nickel backs in Munnerlyn and Butler, it's time to add a starter.

5. Marvin McNutt (C-): I see this as a slight reach because he should still be there in the sixth for our first pick. Player wise, it is a pretty good pick so I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

6. Julian Miller, DE, WVU (F): This is a pretty decent reach for a guy that is projected by some to go undrafted. I definitely don't like this pick.

6. Jaymes Brooks, OG, Virginia Tech (D+): This another reach to me, I don't see Brooks getting drafted unless it's late in the seventh.

7. DeQuan Menzie, CB, Alabama (A+): If you can make a guy fall to us in the seventh that has a fourth to fifth round grade then I will gladly take it.

Overall Grade: (C-)

He runs a 4.48 - 4.49 which is essentially 4.5

Elite speed is 4.2 - 4.3

Good speed - 4.4

Average speed 4.5

He ran a between a 4.45 and 4.5 his first attempt, and his second was between 4.41 and 4.46. So no, he's not a 4.5 guy....

By your standards about three guys have ELITE speed then. Blackmon won't be the fastest receiver in the NFL by far, but his speed will never be an issue....

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
