Pics/video From Kick Cf

As promised, here's some photos and videos I took from the third row in the Providence High School stadium at Kick CF. Attendees included: Gross (duh), Cam, Smitty, Stew, DeAngelo, TD, Beason, Olsen (my girl's new obsession), Kalil, Bell, Travelle Wharton, and more.

It was only $10 per person, and it wasn't even that crowded. Maybe filled up half of one side of the stadium. This made it even more "intimate" than training camp. Players were good about interacting with fans/signing autographs. As usual, Cam was the star of the show. He clowned on everyone: teammates, fans, and the Power Players. This is one of the many reasons why I'm glad I moved to Charlotte in 2010; not only easier to get to and from games, but many more chances to see our players in a more personal setting.

Jordan Gross raised about $100K for CF research through this event, I believe. Win-win for everyone involved.

Smitty bout to go all Ken Lucas on Cam:

And here's the videos I took. Camera was on a low battery so I could only film a little bit, but figured the Cam segments would probably be the most entertaining.

If you live in Charlotte and had nothing to do yesterday and still didn't go to this, shame on you. But there's always next year. Enjoy.

CF stands for Cystic Fibrosis, if anyone is curious. It is an autosomal recessive chromosome disorder, affecting children of European ancestry mainly. If you have two parents who are carriers, there's a 25% chance the child has it. It is somewhat rare.

That's a great thing organized and brought to life by the players. It looked fun and hopefully it will help someone out there.

Thanks for the videos, what a tiny field! Was every kick over the fence?

There were several, but not as many as you might think. For example, Stew's first outing was embarrassing. He kicked one foul, then another, then popped up another foul and it was caught for an out. He slunk back to the bench, and Cam got up from his spot on the bench and pointed down at the seat, demanding Stew sit. It was pretty funny, and Stew laughed it off and gave Cam a shove.

After that, DeAngelo went up and kicked a home run and Stew ran on the field to run the bases with him (ala Hank Aaron in the 70's I presume) and they did their double trouble dance thing at home plate.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
