Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that Paul Silas will not return as head coach and a search for his successor will begin immediately.

"I would like to personally thank Paul for everything he has done for this team under some pretty unique circumstances," Higgins said. "His basketball experience as a coach and a player speak for themselves. We have been fortunate to have someone of his character associated with this franchise and we hope he will continue to be a valuable resource to us in the future."

Silas recently completed his first full season with the Bobcats, after being named interim Head Coach on December 22, 2010, and then having the interim title removed on February 16, 2011. He led the team to a 25-29 record (.463) over the remainder of the 2010-11 season and compiled an overall record of 32-88 (.363) with the Bobcats.

In 11 seasons as an NBA head coach, Silas has a career record of 377-531 with the Clippers (1980-83), Hornets (1999-2003), Cavaliers (2003-05) and Bobcats. He also spent 11 seasons as an assistant coach for the Hornets, Knicks, Nets and Suns.

This is a REAL STORY commented on publicly by the Bobcats.

I'd like Nate as well. But the natives might not feel like he's truly one of "us" so who knows. Bring back Allen Bristow!

:Let it go KT. Don't devolve every thread into this stuff.

They wont let it go after 8 years, its Bobcat fans turn now. Hornet fans taught me never let go of a grudge, and if need be divide this city to reach your goal. This is what we wanted remember teeray?

I just want the NBA in Charlotte to be viable. Is that not what you want??

    • If only those guys grew on trees? The 2015 team was really special.  That was such an incredible year until the Super Bowl. What happened was the owner let the football people handle football decisions.  We had a front office that made some really good decisions.  Just hit on FAs and draft picks at a high level.  Those guys became GREAT players.  Our head coach held the team to a standard, but allowed them to be themselves.  That let so many of those guys grow into vocal leaders and tone setters.  Then we had Cam play lights out for the entire year.  We had a defense led by Luke, one of the best to ever play.  We had guys like Greg and TD who were so smart and tenacious. That was a special team.  The biggest question is how do we bring that back?  We don't because we can't.  Instead, we need to build up the team again.  Bryce is not Cam, duh.  Maybe he's not even the guy next season.  But there are some dudes like DB, Horn, Chubba who are all high character, effort productive players. As team, they need to lean into what they do well, and give Bryce his opportunities to prove himself.  If not, you keep building the best team and work on that QB.
    • Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was less than thrilled after the Miami Dolphins lost against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, 27-24, dropping their record to 1-4 on the season. "He was really frustrated, just like I was," head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Monday. "We talked about the challenge ahead to get ready for the Los Angeles Chargers, and that was really the extent of it." https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25257873-mike-mcdaniel-admits-dolphins-owner-was-really-frustrated-after-loss-panthers
