Doug Farrar Of Shutdown Corner Obliterates Alex Smith's Argument Against Cam

IMO,,,Alex was completely wrong for trying to belittle Cam's accomplishments as a QB.

In all honesty, it takes a team to win games..Maybe that was what Alex was trying to say but it came out sounding like he was demeaning Cam.

Let's be real, what Cam did was nothing to sneeze at. He had 3 more ints than Dalton and a way more tds both running and throwing but folks seem to want to focus on his mistakes. Cam proved to his team that he isn't just a QB but a multi-tasking player.

What I find so funny is how many were doing everything they can to get The Golden Calf of Bristol another starting QB job based solely on the fact that he won a couple of games and backed into the play offs after a team had to rebuild and stress them selves out so he could show up five minutes before the end ot a game and play the way many in the media scorn Cam for playing while he was in college.

We're all scuffing over 17 ints coming from a QB that played way more positions than he should have. And even worst, a defense who everyone was hoping and praying wouldn't give away every pointed earned everytime they got on the field.

I would love to see Alex play with last year's Panthers.

What Cam proved is that he's a damn good QB, even with his rookie mistakes..Anyone with eyes can see that. I'm sure every player on the Panthers are breathing a sigh of relief that they can play their position and hopefully pull out some wins. What player wants to come unto a team and play three times harder in their position simply to help a QB look decent. There is a reason why teams were so interested in Peyton, including the 49ers.

in before someone brings up multiple OCs as an excuse for him sucking.

he had norv turner his rookie year for an OC and instead of sticking around with alex smith he jumped ship and went to san diego to take a HC gig. turner wasn't the only OC worth a crap there either. no one could do anything with him until this year and harbaugh, being a genius of a coach, knew the best thing to do with smith was to limit his chances of screwing up and work a gameplan within his very limited skillset.

He actually had Mike McCarthy (The Packers HC) his first year and it was terrible. Last in everything. He then got Norv Turner his second year and was just below average. So yeah, in his first couple years with some really good offensive coaches he was terrible. The only Top Ten Qb to do worse that I can think of in this pass happy NFL is Jamarcus Russell because he straight didn't give a poo.
