Way-Too-Early 2009 Standings Predictions

Recommended Posts

Disagree. I have read players in the league comment about their home fans calling them names or whatever or being booed. There are some who do care when that happens.
the players are all human and very much affected by the vibes of the fans surrounding them.

why is it that they spend so much time trying to get pumped up before a game? players feed off energy for better or worse. it is an emotional game and the players are either pushed or repressed by the attitude of the fans towards them. that is why playing away from home is so much harder than playing at home. in one instance you have the fans yelling against you and in the other you have them yelling for you.

it seems obvious but apparently it isn't. teams do better when the fans are pushing them to do better and believe they can. very few are going to be like smitty and feed off the doubts that come from other people.

The NFCS is going to be interesting this year. In a division that has long been dominated by defenses, 3 of the 4 teams should field very good offenses in 2009.

Saints: Always had a very good offense and should remin that way.

Atlanta: Alot hinges on teh sophomore season of Ryan. However, I do not expect a sig sophomore slump. They have two very good RB's in turner and Norwood. White has emerged a a very good #1 threat...and they have depth at WR. Throw Gonzales in at TE and their offense if potent and well balanced.

Carolina: Great young OL....two outstanding RB's....one of the best WR's in the game (along with Moose, Jarrett, etc.). Offense will not be a problem next year.

TB: They are relying on a rookie QB...and aging RB (Dunn)....offensively they are a distant 4th.

Should be a very interesting division race to say the least.

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
