Eric Wright Arrested.

After a string of arrests last offseason, the Bucs have kept their off-the-field noise to a minimum in 2012. That changed over the weekend.

The Los Angeles Times confirmed with the LAPD that Bucs cornerback Eric Wright was arrested for a felony charge of driving under the influence on Saturday morning. It was a felony because Wright was involved in an accident which involved injury. (Wright was unhurt.)

Wright allegedly told police officers he was drinking and refused to take a breathalyzer. The USC product ran into trouble with the law in college, but does not have any known incidents in the pros.

He signed a surprisingly large free agent deal with the Buccaneers this offseason after a solid-but-unspectacular season in Detroit this year. (The Lions narrowly avoided another arrest here.)

New Bucs coach Greg Schiano has stressed a new accountability since taking over. It will be interesting to see how the organization responds to this arrest.

Hopefully the Panther keep it clean this off season. There may be something wrong with me but I like to hear about other teams players having these problems.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
