Fantasy Draft Advice

Im just looking for opinions from you guys about my options in the draft we are having in a couple weeks. Very competitive PPR keeper league that has been running for about 7 years now. We dont have to give up draft picks for keepers and can keep guys as long as we want. So there are 30 guys out of the draft.

We start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF

6 Bench players

My keepers are: Aaron Rodgers, LeSean McCoy, Andre Johnson

I have the 9th pick of non snake draft. I cant predict who will for sure be there but the guys i think could be there are..........

McFadden

Murray

T-Rich

S-Jax

Mike Wallace

Nicks

Steve Smith

Jordy

V-Jax

Gronk

Graham

Those are basically the top guys at those positions and someone better could fall but this is who i think could be there when i pick based on past drafting and others needs. Thanks guys

McFadden (no-always broke)

Murray (a possibility, Dallas will probably over-use and end his career early, ex. Barber, Choice, etc.)

T-Rich (PPR?, will get carries either way, best long term RB prospect of those listed, WCO shennanigans gone if Holmgren goes)

S-Jax (would work for a year, maybe, lotta miles on those legs)

Mike Wallace (long term-quite possibly turns into another Pittsburgh reciever that underperforms somewhere else after his contract expires)

Nicks (best WR option so far)

Steve Smith (great one year option, dude's name isn't Lazarus Long however) (LL = Heinlein reference)

Jordy (only one ball to go around in GB, possible 'oft injured' label in his future)

V-Jax (who's throwing him the ball again?, new TB offense purported to be ground and pound, etc.)

Gronk (NE offense is as unpredictable as Shanahan's)

Graham (will last at least as long as Brees does)

Opinions above given with long term retention keeper possibilities and PPR in mind.

For one year with players given in OP:

RB

1 Murray

2 Richardson

3 Jackson

4 McFadden (on my never draft list, ever)

WR

1 Steve Smith (yeah, call me Homer, wanna fight about it?)

2 Nicks

3 Nelson (top 3 are very close IMO)

4 Wallace (possible contract butt-hurtedness, new offensive system)

5 Jackson (would find another option, can be a diva, run oriented offense, it's Tampa Freakin' Bay, etc)

TE

1 Graham (also like Vernon Davis mid rounds)

2 Gronk (Pats too unpredictable, Brady has many new options and a new/old OC)

Whoever you pick you're going to want to have in the future.

That being said...

My choice would be either TRich or Graham. TRIch is built like ADP with MJD's height. He's going to be a beast for years to come. It does suck he's in the AFC North, BUT...I think their offense will improve and he's it. Seeing how this is a PPR, Graham is probably going to go high in your draft. Doubt you'll get him, but he's a TE that gives you WR1 numbers. Looking at your roster I don't see flex positions, but knowing this guy is getting you money at that spot in a position that's extremely deep (WR), I'd say he'd be my number one target.

Gronk is appealling, but look back last year. Gronk would get his, but Hernandez would outperform. Graham was most consistent I believe. I would not bother with a WR...as I said...very deep.

Awesome feedback here, and thanks for adding the keeper point. When drafting in this league i am always thinking about the future a little more than other leagues. For example, I had peyton a couple years ago in his prime and i drafted rodgers in the second round (keep in mind its like the 5th round with 3 keeper) and everyone looked at me weird bc it was before he started going off. I then traded peyton for S-jax and got to keep rodgers through these great years and also ended up with a solid PPR rb.

I think I like Jordy, Wallace and Nicks the best out of the WR's. I agree on Vjax, terrible situation but you never know and I love Smitty but I just try to stay away from the panthers bc i dont want to jinx them (i know its dumb) but they also get way overdrafted bc of all the homers in the league. Jordy scares me bc of how they throw it around and Nicks is always hurt and then Wallace is "holding out" to go along with Bens arm so idk about any of them.

I think DMC would be my RB out of that group bc he has the talent to be best in the NFL but i understand his injuries suck. Sjax is just getting up there and Murray has the same durability issues. I just dk if i can go trich that early in clevelands offense.

Both TE's are gonna be solid but i guess this will come down to a gametime decision.

I would look at this and most likely take McFadden or TE's if they are there. Getting the TE is good to get #1 WR production out of a TE. I am guessing you are not really looking to add a keeper unless you are wantitng to replace the often injured Andre? So i would take who you think will be BPA

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
