I find this article by Mike Florio pretty funny.

I see no difference on our backs compare to NO.

Dwill:Thomas, Stew:Ingram and Tolbert:Sproles.

NO will try to feature Ingram a bit more this year. And Tolbert can give us a receiving back like Sproles.

Ugh. I will repeat. If we keep Stew and Williams we will be paying 2 featured RB money. What we are investing is what is drastically different. NO wouldn't be doing that....they would be paying RBs appropriate money for the same ground production

Just let it go dude.

I've given up trying to explain it.

Heres some distrubing facts for some of you. Please keep in mind hindsight is 20/20

When we signed D-will nobody-

1nobody had a clue that Cam would be the passing threat that he is.

2.Steve Smith was not commited to being on this team at that point either

3.Greg Olsen was not on the team

4.Jeremy Shockey was not on the team

5.There was no gurantee Lafell would step up the way he did.

(these points are made to show you that we had no gurantee of being such a passing threat of a team and wanted insurance in such case)

6.Mike Tolbert was not on this team, nor did we know he'd sign so cheap.

These can't be proved as a fact but any reasonable minds would agree

-When we signed D-will, no free agents worth a poo wanted to come here and we would have had to grossly overpay those that already got overpaid in free agency to join this team.

-Nobody knows if Stewart will re-sign or what he will cost either.

Different team has different system and players. NO has Brees. We dnt, we have Cam. Totally different Qbs. Brees doesn't need star backs. Cam is a second year player who grew faster than anyone had thought, but hes still learning everyday. It would be wise to have Stew and Dwill takes off some weight off Cam's shoulders.

All of those are some great reasons to keep some cap space in order to fill those holes should they arise. In the NFL free agents will go wherever somebody pays them unlike the NBA. Carolina has never had trouble signing free agents that they wanted to obtain.

.

yes because we so often go after high profile free agents. The biggest free agent we have targeted is Ken Lucas since Hurney came here.

Agree. Add the fact that Dwill would've been snatched up quickly by a team like Denver last year.

    • Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.
    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
