Sturridge never made sense on chelsea, I'm interested to see what he can do with a team that actually needs him. Hopefully Rodgers plays him up top with Suarez and doesnt force him to play on the wing (since he more or less refuses to play like a winger even if you put him there).

12 million pounds for Sturridge could be a steal. Thats like a 1/3rd of what they paid for Carroll

Yes. I agree he could be a steal and at 12m its not a huge risk. I just hope we can find a way for him to fit in. Some possesion in the final 3rd would be nice but everything we get in there is direct and brief. They need to add some holding mids.

Sturridge is definitely a guy that needs the ball fed to him. He's a pretty selfish player and Chelsea never needed that. Liverpool needs a guy alongside Suarez who will take chances and stop making one too many passes. I still hope we can bolster our attack elsewhere, maybe a true CAM. We shall see.

The Spain international’s contract expires in 2014, and a cut-price deal could appeal to both Liverpool and the player, who has always been strongly linked to the Anfield club.

Obviously pure speculation, but very interesting if Sturridge doesn't pan out.

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
