3-tech DT

Recommended Posts

In discussions with the press today, Ron Rivera gave an update on Andre Neblett. Apparently, he has been suffering from "hypertension, stress, and fatigue". Throw in his 4 game suspension, and it is not looking very good for Andre.

We are really thin at the 3 tech DT position. We have McClain and...?

Unless someone like Chandler really steps up, it seems this is an area we will need to address.

My guess is they wait until the Monday following game 1 to bring someone in, avoiding the salary guarantee should we add someone to the 53 before week 1.

In any case, this is an area to keep an eye on, and let's hope McClain shows good growth going into year 2.

Strange symptoms for a guy of his age and physical fitness, hope it's nothing serious.

As for the "cheating douche" comment, grow the fug up, you don't have a clue about what he popped positive for. It takes very little to throw a flag.

I do hope we bring some guys in, with Edwards playing the typical NT, we're going to need a good DT who can get penetration, but not be moved off his spot vs the run.

I hope Neblett gets cut. 4 game suspension doesn't nullify the fact that he's a cheating douche.

Don't you EVER question a player, unless you are a current or former commissoner then you have no right to comment on this.

This board is turning into a troll circus fast. It only takes about two comments into each thread before a newly christened huddle doucher successfully attempts to turn every topic into a pissing match.

It's getting to the point where you only read the OP then bow out before it gets ugly.

I Agree! This forum has become really dumb. Grown up men trying to pick chit chat fights all the time to see who's better or think they know better.

Blame the MODS for this $hit. Even sometimes they're the one making smart comments. I careless to speak my mind

The mods really need to tighten up on the b.s. It is really holding this forum back a ton.

As far the failed test it was because of an otc dietary supplement. http://blogs.charlot...-drug-test.html

The fatigue and stress very well could be related to personal problem and nothing to with football.

Now back to what the OP was saying. You bring up a very good point, but I just dont see us being able to pick up anyone special. I wouldnt be opposed to giving up a 5th or 6th to a team loaded with 3 techs(if there even is a such a team). The rookies played a ton of snaps to start the year last year due to us starting the season with 3 healthy DT'S. Whether it be thru cuts or giving up a late round pick I certainly hope we can find someone to at least fill the void to Neblett comes back.

Also while its certainly not ideal but maybe we could see Fua and Edwards line up next to each other at times. While neither are likely to get much pressure on qb's in time, i'm sure they could open up some holes on blitzes.

OP could've meant bringing in someone who is cut. He never said brining someone by a trade

It's not like he was juicing...

Theres all sorts of over the counter supplements that are banned from the NFL and I highly doubt most random young backup players know each and every one of them. Didn't the same thing happen to Peppers his rookie year?

    • Bryce among the 7 players Mark Ross of NFL.com guarantees will get better this season. Today, I am identifying seven players who I guarantee will improve on their 2024 output in the 2025 season. Young took tremendous strides in 2024 after returning to the starting lineup in Week 8 following his benching. He looked far more comfortable in his return and produced with consistency, as he threw for 2,104 yards with 15 TDs and six INTs in the final 10 contests. Most important perhaps is Young's confidence grew immensely down the stretch, leading Carolina to either a game-tying or game-winning drive in six of those games. Now he enters his second season in Dave Canales' system with his best supporting cast to date. The Panthers drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall to pair with Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, who I also believe is poised for a breakout campaign this fall. The 18th-ranked rushing attack from a year ago added Rico Dowdle to complement Chuba Hubbard, giving the team a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. The Panthers have taken the necessary steps to ensure Young's third season will be the best of his career, and now it's up to him to not only continue to grow as a player but prove why he was worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in 2023. I believe that's what he will do. https://www.nfl.com/news/which-nfl-players-will-improve-in-2025-c-j-stroud-deebo-samuel-among-guaranteed-risers
    • While it's fair to question how impactful a player's relationship with a coach is (especially if someone has questions regarding said coach), it's important to also evaluate the difference between the players here. Jordan Fuller was pick #199 in the 6th round while Justin Simmons was #98 in the 3rd round. Jordan Fuller might have gotten a Super Bowl ring while he was with the Rams, but he got it while on the IR. Justin Simmons, on the other hand, is a x2 Pro-Bowler (2020, 2023), x4 second-team All-Pro (2019, 2021 - 2023), and was the NFL co-leader in INTs (2022). Simmons has also fallen off in the last couple of seasons though, grade-wise. He very well might not be that same player, which could be why the Falcons have elected to replace him with Fuller. As far as getting the best out of what he has, asking him to produce with a starting DL of A'Shawn Robinson (63.56% of the defense's snaps), LaBryan Ray (51.48%), and Shy Tuttle (50.08%) isn't reasonable. Wonnum only played in 8 games, but had the second most % of snaps (37.27%) at EDGE behind Clowney (53.53%). The second-string DL based on snap % was... and don't read this if you just ate... Charles Harris (34.48%), DeShawn Williams (27.67%), and Nick Thurman (19.7%). The second-string EDGEs based on snap count would be DJ Johnson (32.27%) and Cam Gill (18.14%). With the investments made in the run defense this season though, especially on the defensive line, it's more than fair to demand a complete turn around from last season.
