Cam's Superman when down 23-7

I get the impression that Cam has a hard time understanding a BIG time NFL playbook, so the coaches give him a really simple one to follow with only a few plays. It worked last year with a shorten preseason because teams didn't have time to prepare themselves for Cam. This year, they had all summer to study and watch game tape on him and those five or six plays and now he has been exposed, especially by GREAT teams. They get away with it still, every once in awhile, with a few fancy plays from Chud but otherwise it falls flat when the trickery doesn't work. Chud tried some trickery early on and the Giants figured it out and ever since then, you knew this game was downhill for Cam and Carolina. It'll be like that all year.

yeah thats why superman just threw TWO interceptions in key posistion on the drive, and we suck so bad they took out there starting qb. give me RG3 or luck. Both of those guys hold their heads up win or lose. Cam newton COULD be great but he beats himself. we will be under .500 again this year. get used to it.

Cam's biggest problem is that he presses in big games. He wants so badly to be that entertainer and icon that he overthinks things. Hey, I can't blame him, I was similar when I played football. Overthinking in big spots. Until he gets some humility and stops carrying about the CamBrand, he won't be doing anything of note for us.

Newton is a player like any other. If he makes a mistake correct him. Including, if the coach thinks his pose was inappropriate.

The least of this teams problems is Newton.

This team has zero, and I mean zero defense, abysmal special teams, a Oline that is vastly over-rated, and 50 million $$backfield that can't run.

...and Newton and his pose is the issue? OK then.

Newton is a catapult for interceptions. He has a big arm and no technique.

He is slow to process the defense and hesitates too much.

If he would do his check down or run when his read isn't there, he wouldn't get himself into as much trouble as he does.

lol at what I'm reading in this thread.

He's a 2nd year player, who since entering the league has had the entire franchise on his back. That pressure is increased as he has one of the worst defenses in the league and he feels like he has to score on every drive to even give the team a chance to win.

Yes, he makes bad decisions and he it seems he sulks on the sidelines but no where have I seen him be selfish or me 1st. You can see it from the way his teammates interact with him.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
