Cam Newton's drive began early

geesh you missed the whole point of the article. If you dont get angry after a loss you accept losing and it shows your not competitive. I was the same way after a loss, I was pissed off and came back and always kicked ass the next game. This article shows how competiitive Cam has been ever since he was really young, and that the media has blown the pouting issue out of proportion.

The article could've also been titled "Sore Loser Since Birth". If this piece's intent was to put forth a legitimate excuse for Newton's poor sportsmanship, it failed miserably.

Real winners don't pout when they lose.

yeah they just shove cameras and go completely unhinged on their position coaches on the sidelines.

also apparently you haven't seen drew brees sitting alone on the bench with a thousand yard stare on his face yet this season. keep up the trolling.

I saw jordan pout when he was young and couldnt get past the pistons. ive seen Lebron pout after losing to the celtics. Do you not call these guys real winners? Hell we even have a post last week that showed all the elite nfl pro qb's pouting on the side line. How come Cam is the only one that doesnt get a pass? Do I like to see him pout ...no...but Id be more pissed off if he was smiling and joking during a loss. Im glad that he wants to change the culture of the franchise and i believe he will do it.

Really? I can think of this guy named Kobe Bryant. Kobe is a sore loser and one of the most passionate and competitive guys in the NBA. He hates losing and is a jerk and an ass to reporters just like Cam. I would consider Kobe a winner, I think he won a few times.

he doesn't get a pass because a lot of people already had a particular preconceived notion of the kind of person he was and this just confirms what they already believed in their minds.

rodgers, brady, and peyton manning all have at least one ring and are major assholes when they are getting beat up/losing. really raise your hand if you think any of those guys would be all smiles if they were playing for a team on the kind of extended downswing we're on right now.

Im not trolling, son. Anybody know of a Panthers Board that isnt choked with hostile comments, personal insults favored by 12 year old boys, (my personal favorite: go kill yourself) stupid Gifs, and internet tough guys who hide behind their anonymity?

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
