Cam Newton - "I'm A Football Player" WTF

I'm going to have to see this scheme with Stewart in it a little more before I agree with this point. I believe if anything, having both Williams and Stew in there makes the play go. (Not a great example, the but the most success we've seen with this type offense was with them against the Bucs last year) So if Williams were injured, I believe the read option would struggle as you say when we didn't have Stew in there. Ultimately, from what I've seen, I have to say this play is best used sparingly.

Yet let me ask you this question. If Andrew Luck was our QB, would we still see the read option for 50% of our plays?

We avg 200 yard rushing and 30 pts this year with Stewart. We had one of the greatest rushing attacks in league history last year with Stewart getting more reps.....there is more evidence of it working well than just that Tampa game.

Deangelo added in makes the attack all time level great....with just Stewart it would be a les flashy steady machine.

Andrew Luck is big and athletic.....he isn't a comparable runner to Cam bc of a 40 time. Luck also has a fantastic short game in regards to accuracy....and Cam's short game is his legs. Color has nothing to so with it.....skill set does.

I guess you guys just close your eyes on the Williams runs, and td out of the zone read.

I don't know how else you can even begin to claim Williams doesn't work in the zone read.

Stewart is a more punishing runner, in turn breaking more tackles.

Doesn't mean Williams isn't good in the zone read.

You are failing to see the point. It is about the threat posed.

Williams' strength is getting to the outside....not breaking a tackle and gaining yards. He can make a team pay with a big hole like the one he was given....

Ron Rivera and even backed the point I have been saying since the offseason. Stewart's inside THREAT is what opens it all up to steadily work.

Williams needs a hole inside....Stewart doesn't. Teams don't respect the inside read without Stewart and simply pass rush which clogs Cams and Williams outside lanes.

It isn't about if Williams has ever had a successful run. About it consistantly working over the course of a game. You need the inside threat.....

If the oline blocks.consistently, it doesn't matter.

Blocking is unique for be read option vs say a traditional run play called.

more about Cam making calls based on how a defensive line is playing a particular down....with Stewart out they don't respect an inside read. Which limits his opportunities as a runner and the passing opening up......and makes pass blocking tougher out of the formation

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
