Coach Chud Believes the 4th and 1 call was the right one

Calling a pass play with Smitty on the bench, a yard out.......asking a QB who struggled mightily all day with short passes to go to last optiom in Hartsock was the right call?

That is a throw that any QB in the NFL should be able to make, much less one who is supposed to revolutionize the position.

You people do realize Hartsock was open on happenstance, right? The pass notwithstanding. It was NOT the right call. This, the 'end justifies the means' crowd is baffling.

Happenstance? He ran a route and got open. Cam then tried to roll the football to him for some reason.

Is every play when someone gets open happenstance?

You could say that about almost any play call honestly.

I don't care for the play-call but we're going to have a real problem getting anyone to admit it was the wrong call when there was a receiver wide-fuging-open that Cam just missed getting the ball to.

He was so open that Olsen threw is hands up assuming it was a TD as soon as Cam released the ball.

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
