Attention Cam Haters. Ron Jaworski Would Like to Have a Word With You.

Cam Newton isn't clutch. There are moments in a game where you have to make a play. Sometimes it's a TD pass, other times it's a pass to get into field goal range. It can even be getting a first down pass to move the chains and run some clock. Cam can make passes when there's no pressure and the outcome of the game is still to early to determine. But once it's a tight game and one play can shift the momentum, he fades away.

I think it shows a lack of character. When everything is going his way, he's fine, but when there is adversity, he can't perform.

Maybe he can grow out of it, who knows. He certainly has the ability and potential to be a great QB, but no matter how great a QB is, if you can't make plays at vital times, you'll never be a part of a successful team.

I like Jaws but to say "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH CAM NEWTON" is false. When you have more turnovers than TDs at least one thing is wrong.

Cam pretty much brings exactly the same thing the table he did last year.....difference is everything else around him.

So yeah, Cam's game needs work....but the step backwards is on Smitty, the OL, RBs and scheme. Cam pretty much has brought his big play and spotty at times game just like last year.

cam isn't immune from the blame. he's made a bunch of boneheaded mistakes and he still hasn't figured out how to shake it off when mistakes are made and he still hasn't found his voice as a leader the way he did at blinn and auburn.

but.....he's far from the only one that has been the issue. smitty hasn't been reliable. the game plan and play calling have been the biggest problem. the defense has actually made it easier to win games than they did last year. they haven't been costing the offense games like they did. now it's players on offense playing badly and chud coaching badly.

we would have a few more wins last year if the defense was playing this well last year.

seems that is a huge problem for us. the offense and defense are never hitting it at the right time. in 2010 the D did well, but the offense was horrible. then last year the offense did really well but the defense did horrible. now this year it's the offenses turn to suck.

Didn't say Cam was immune from blame.....he has faults and done dumb things.

But big picture.....bulk of the reason our offense has gone backwards is bc of people not named Cam.

We would have more wins....19 of the 22 have been competitive.....if we had average coaching and a collectively average team around Cam. Issue was in 2011 the D was severely below average and this year the OL and ground attack is below average (which coaching is likely creating the issue).

Cam isn't blameless....but the focus on him is illogical IMO. Makes for good TV/radio though

wasn't implying that you were saying he was immune. agreed on all of that.

I will start by saying that I strongly admire the handful of fans on here who can see clearly and isn't caught up in their own personal prejudices or desire to be dumb down by our media. I realize that the group is few but I hope that their voices will be strong enough to counter all the silly ish that is being constantly regurgitated on here every other day about Cam.

I admire them because it seems as if they want the Panthers as a team, to get better and they want the media's attention to be on the team as a whole and not just always up Cam's ass. I hope those fans get their wish and this team will turn that corner to becoming the championship winning and competitive team they dream of.

But in all honesty, I don't see it happening when the media makes it their business to distract you from paying attention to the real issues of this team by undermining everything Cam does and endlessly ranting about it. That is not productive to this team at all.

I speaks as a person who is a lover of this sport and not just a team. I root for all teams because the more competitive the teams are, the more fun the games are to watch.

Now...FYI, Cam is not on a pedestal...Luck is. And unlike Cam, Luck, the media chosen...who went off the board at # 1....isn't being criticized and ridculed up his ass like Cam. Why is that? At last check, this is a kid has all his playcalls on his wrist, yet it's Cam who is labeled by the media as being stupid. I bet you any amount of money that if Cam had the playcall on his wrist many in the media and on here would be justifying their assumption that he's unintelligent.

The media has been ridiculing Cam since he carry Auburn to it's Championship. It's as if they are pissed that he didn't fall when they wanted him too. He came into the draft and they set out to smear him at every turn with nothing more than those tride and true racial stereotypes that is still being used against certain black players today. They even attack Cam becuase Warren Moon called them out.

The media analyzed every ounce of Cam's mechanics. Claiming that they need too because he has a chance of going off the draftboard at # 1 and that's okay. But no such scrutiny was done leveled at Blaine, the QB they chose as the better QB.

They threw everything at Cam, but the kitchen sink, during the draft but the Panthers didn't shy away from him and picked him and it pissed them off because once again, he prevailed. They then decided that it was going to be their job to scrutinize Cam since he went off the draft board at # 1. Interestingly enough, none of the other top QBs picks are being treated in the same manner. Sam Bradford, struggled last year but you heard nothing. It was the team that received the brunt of the blame.

It amazes me when so called Panther fans are upset when some in the media praise Cam for his talent. What kind of twisted mindset is that. You got these folks chasing down Luck based solely on the media's empty hype of this kid. He's proven to be an average player at best but you wouldn't know that if you read these articles and listen to the pundits. Nope...Luck is the "once in a life-time QB." But praising Cam for his actual accomplishments bothers some, even Panther fans.

In all honesty, I wish those who seem to enjoy believing that fixing Cam means fixing the team would seriously listen to those who say, Cam isn't the problem. Because you know what? They are right. When Cam, the QB, is getting more rushing yards than the receivers on this team, he's clearly not the problem.

But it's clear many of you are in denial and simply follow along with every article and every word that comes out of the mouth of these folks in the media who have made it clear from day one, that they would rake your QB over with a fine tooth comb. Something they refuse to do when it come to their chosen QBs. Some who are worst than Cam.

    • Yeah, I could jump right into the unbelievable Bryce debate now that some people are trying to flip the script because Bryce Young has, at most, a handful of decent games as a pro, but that's going to work itself out. Suffice it to say that I've seen better QBs (with an s) in a Panthers uniform, and I've certainly seen better QBs be drafted while we're playing around with Bryce, one of them who beat the crap out of us already this season... Let's forget about Bryce (and his markedly underwhelming play since he's been here); I think that most sane fans will agree that drafting him was an error, but it happens. Sure, it doesn't happen to the tune of King's ransom---including your main receiver---but it happens. You bet, you lose. Speaking of receivers...and betting and losing... Oh, man, we drafted Xavier Legette. Yes, just like with Bryce, I've entered "the dark side." Some Huddlers were telling us from the beginning, and they were right. But, I'm not apologizing for waiting to see what a guy's got before making my decision on him. X was a one-year wonder at South Carolina who parlayed some really nice production that season, a great personality and thick country accent, into becoming a first round pick (but only in Carolina). For Dan Morgan and company, He was a big swing that has turned into a big whiff (and I can still feel the ill breeze from that one). Sh¡t happens, right? Well, not so fast. Ladd McConkey was the decidedly more polished receiver who was literally ready to hit the ground running as soon as stepping onto the field as a pro. Ladd was never the biggest guy (though not the smallest), but he was the guy that could run routes, always seemed to get open---no question---and had the same speed as X, but with legit quickness and nuanced shake and bake. But Dan chose the project. He chose the guy where the game speed looks more like a tractor trailer than a 5.0 mustang. Look, I've supported X (just like Bryce) many many a day, but no more. Now I'm not saying that I won't root for the guy. Just like with Bryce, he seems like a great kid. But as far as giving excuses for the kid, and, perhaps more importantly, waiting for some miraculous breakout, I'm done with that. I've seen enough. You don't draft a project for a project. And yes, Bryce had proven to be a project after his first season. In my mind, drafting a supposedly number one receiver that needs lots of development for a starting quarterback that needs immediate help to try and further his development is not going to lead to good things. Pick the surest guy. Or at least pick the one who appears to be the surest guy, because picking can be tricky... especially when you're too busy tricking yourself.
    • Winning ain't gonna make my eyes lie to me. Context matters, and it will always matter in the game of football.
    • That TD pass to Legette against Miami. Elite. The play where Bryce rolls right to buy time until Tet can reverse field.  Bryce pumps as multiple defenders close in.  He barely gets it away before he takes a big time hit.  Beautiful off platform throw and great catch by Tet.   The second TD to Tet against Dallas where Bryce dips and turns his shoulder in to evade the pass rusher.  Resets and finds Tet in the end zone. Dude embodies the Keep Pounding mantra.
