Mort said Richardson did not want Rivera

To make it even more baffling, when we got the ball, they called a quick out to the sideline for 5 yards. So explain to me the purpose for that play. If RR had no intention of going for the field goal, why throw the out? To get additional yards for a hail mary pass that sailed clear through the end zone? No part of that sequence makes sense.

He should have just taken the knee. Frankly, it would have made more sense than what we actually did.

We needed that five yards so his pass could get over the cross bar. Seriously, I bet other teams laugh during film sessions before playing us.

The GM hires the head coach, it's supposed to be up to the owner to sign off on everything. Maybe just maybe Hurney wasn't as "handcuffed" as some people think.

By chance I really believe this could be the case. I just don't know though, I just feel Richardson has to have the final say on whether he wanted Rivera or not.

The owner always has the final say. Its the GM's job to hire a head coach. So ultimately it is on the owner to sign off. What this says is that he signed off on Rivera reluctantly, which doesn't really matter because he signed off.

Its the pecking order in the NFL. Outside of guys like Jerry Jones who is the owner and GM.
