With Rivera making the final decisions now, I don't see any way we are going to make any trades. I think all we could hope for when trading our players is draft picks or lesser players. That doesn't help Rivera this year. He will turn down trading players for draft picks because he is trying to keep his job. Why would he trade away some of his weapons to get no immediate value in return? He is fighting for his job and will need everyone he can to try and get wins. Which is why I think it is stupid to have a guy that is on the bubble making personnel decisions.

I dnt think JR has given Rivera full permission to start trading away some of his best talented players for low draft picks that a lot of these ignorant fans are crying for.

This logic makes perfect sense for Smith, as he just had one of his better games of the season. Maybe even his best. But he isn't even using 34. I don't think Rivera considers Williams a weapon at this point.

Rivera isn't in charge. That was made obvious during his presser. When asked about trading DLo, he said that they'd have to assk Beane about those things. Not the words of a man in charge.
