Gettis and Rivera....what's up with that?

Doubt gettis is in game shape, also doubt he understands most of the playbook. Hes been active 3 weeks, he isn't going to make an instant impact

But it's not like hes just sat on his ass all year...didn't testeverde come in from sitting on the couch at 40 years old for us and have an impact winning his first game in like 3 days? I hate the whole "won't make an instant impact" bullshit, specially when they aren't even getting a chance

im predicting gettis will be a roster casualty when the new GM does work on this team in the offseason

New Chapter in Carolina over the horizon...many losers and bums will be kicked out the door

I doubt it though. At the most Gettis should at-least play once until the season is over

If he doesn't know the playbook by now, then he must be LD. He's had nothing to do but study the playbook for more than a year and a half. Being in game shape is one thing, but if he doesn't know the plays by now, he doesn't deserve a spot on anyones roster.

Reading a playbook and being able to run them are two different things, it took LaFell most of last season before he even began to have a clue

Compare what a QB does to what a Receiver does. One takes the snaps, either hands it off to the RB or throws it, the other either blocks a defender or runs a full route. The physical exertion between the 2 positions is vastly different.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
