I'm not really sure why everyone keeps saying that Jake wins some games and loses other. There seems to be this idea that he plays extremely well sometimes and extremely badly sometimes. Really, the only game that you could argue that Jake "won" for us last year was the SD game. And he really only "lost" was the playoff game. Most of the time he's consistently playing at above average.

Yes, I would rate him a B-lister despite his multi-INT games. To be honest, but for his lackluster performance in the Oakland game, and the disaster in the playoffs, Jake was pretty much Jake. Other than his "cardinal disaster", don't expect anything different this year. I'd guess he gets around 300 yds. in 4-5 games, 200-250 yds. in 7 games, and 175-200 in about 4-5 games. Maybe about 10-12 INTs and 18-22 Tds (depending)

for the regular season. I see him ranking about 12th.

Of course all of this is educated conjecture. I'm hoping that he'll be even better.

Jake won the Green Bay game, the San Diego and the second Saints game with last minute heroics. He also set up Kasay to win it in regulation at the Giants. With most other quarterbacks we don't win those games. He is one of the best in 4th quarter comebacks.

Hey guys, Im new to the board but from the time Ive spent here already this place looks like a great football board. As my name suggests Im a huge Bills fan however I am a fan of a lot of players on your team.

I was wondering what your opinions are on your QB Jake Delhomme? I own a team in the NAAFL Simulation League and drafted Jake to be my QB. Jake was the 8th QB on my board ahead of Tony Romo, David Garrard, Jason Campbell and a number of oter big name QBs.

A sim league is not Fantasy Football, its based on stats from last year, we draft a full 53 man roster, salary cap, trade, rookie drafts and submit gameplans each week.

Its very different to fantasy football, a lot more in-depth.

What do you believe Delhommes stregnths and weaknesses are? What are the chances of him improving next season?

My simulation team is based a lot around the Panthers... 2 great Rbs, Delhomme at QB, Steve Smith is also my #1 WR.

You made a huge awful reach on Jake for fantasy.

I love Jake and Fantasy football both and this is just an awful reach.

I was poking through your link you posted and it looked like you took Jake ahead of Cutler and Ryan also. That was terrible. Hell, I would rather even have Trent Edwards this year than Jake, seriously. Dynasty fantasy football wise, Jake is not even in the top 25. If he was in a pass heavy offense with poor defense I could see his value, but he is not he is in the opposite. The only benefit is I can forsee Jake being a starter for quite a while (4+ years). He is sort of safe in that respect but I would deal if possible.

fantasy football....if you are relying on consistent stats from him you are going to be disappointed. he will win you some games and cost you others.

If the truth be known Smitty caught the pass in the New Orleans games and the Giants game didn't he? You can't really separate them in my opinion. Jake gets him the ball and Smitty somehow comes down with it.

As Ive said this is NOT fantasy football. I took Jake in the 8th Round which I believe is good value and Cutler and Ryan both went in the first round.

      This fan base and being cool with mediocrity is infuriating. Making excuses for billionaires who had no business imploding a franchise and making us the Browns of the South.  Good on you man being a glass half full kind of person, I am not. I have zero faith in Tepper "evolving" and quoting Morgan in saying they been easy to work with is not any evidence of that actually happening. I'm sure if I go back and watch Fitt, Rhule and Reich pressers they said the same b.s. towing the line jargon to appease their boss. Stuff like, O they've been great, such great collaboration or some crap. Give me wins that is the ONLY analysis I need to judge are clown of an owner.....

      You're equating wins with evolving, but It's a little more complex than that. This will be the new managment's third season. It will also be the third season where the Teppers have taken a step back. If you think that the only way to measure improvements due to seeming changes for the better is wins and losses after only two years--one being a playoff berth, "limping" in there or not, then perhaps you're being more emotional. By most analysts' measure, Dan Morgan has the Panthers moving in the right direction. He can only get us to where we need to be with the blessing and cooperation from the owners. He has said several times now, that they are easy to work with. Rhule, Reich and Fitterer did not say that. In fact, you could literally see the pressure put upon them by their countenance.  Bottom line: it has been reported that they have changed and everything that we've seen (and not seen) is indicative of that belief. We were a playoff team, and we had a good showing. With the moves that have been made this offseason, and last offseason to be honest, NFL types are expecting the Panthers to compete for the division the upcoming season, and that's even before the draft. This is all with a QB that is still a question mark.  Rome wasn't built in a day. David Tepper has seemed to internalize that, and now many fans need to appreciate the same. It could be argued that we didn't have any business winning the games we did in '24 or '25, much less make the playoffs this past season. A positive transition appears to be afoot. We are close to becoming a perennial contender, and that's thanks to a developing culture change that is being allowed to happen. This was not the case when the Teppers, particularly David, were fumbling around trying to figure out how to run an NFL franchise.
