Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Winner: Luke Kuechly, Panthers.

Runner-up: Janoris Jenkins, Rams.

Honorable mention: Bobby Wagner, Seahawks; Lavonte David, Buccaneers; Casey Heyward, Packers; Harrison Smith, Vikings.

The ninth overall pick in the draft, Kuechly led the NFL with 164 tackles, finishing 10 short of the rookie record set in 2007 by Patrick Willis. Kuechly also had 10 games with 10 or more tackles. In Week Five, he slid from outside linebacker to the middle, where he participated in every snap on defense for the rest of the season.

Jenkins, a second-round steal, instantly became a dangerous cover man and return specialist. He could soon be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Some may say he already is.

No mention of TD for comeback player of the year. Saying that "no one comes close" to having the comeback as Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson is a giant slap in the face to TD.

People have come back from 1 acl tear before and doctors said that Peyton should be able to return to normal once he had that last surgery. No one said that Thomas Davis would be even able to step foot on the field, must less play at a high level.

Does he deserve the award? Probably not. But he at least deserves to be mentioned.

I hope the NFL pussies out on MVP and has AP and Manning as co-MVPs. That pretty much guarantees Davis comeback player of the year.

The reality is that having an idea of what kind of person Davis is, he doesn't give a damn about the award. He's just happy he can play and is looking to spend this offseason training to become the best he's ever been.

    • I posted this in another thread but it's relevant here Stroud is not a bad guy. He had a great rookie season but he hasn't been the same since. And the last 2 weeks he has completely imploded and just looks beaten. The defense has carried that team.  Young had one of the worst rookie seasons in one of the worst environments in recent memory. Last year we also had a record breaking bad def. He has improved and in his lone playoff game he had one of the best games of the season.  Year 1 it was stroud no doubt over young Year 2 it was still stroud miles ahead but young was getting better after the benching Year 3 it might be a tie- after the playoffs Bryce might be in the lead.  I am not rooting against stroud, in fact I've been rooting for him. I want both to succeed. But stroud is seeing ghosts and as of right now if I had to choose between all the qbs chosen in that draft.... Bryce would be my #1 ( but definitely not by a landslide- he still has tons to prove and 2 years to do it)
    • Every route isn’t actually supposed to be thrown to.  Think that was Caleb just being young and greedy.   DJ Moore wasn’t even looking for the ball.
    • Wonder if this was a FO move or an ownership move. I do think it's a mistake.
