Obama: "If I had a son, I wouldnt let him play football"

Please don't troll me but brain injury is very serious and today I found out my younger has brain damage and he never played any contact sports. we bump our heads all the time though out the course of our lives and rarely get treatment. Football players invite this trauma. We can all eat healthy, get doctor checkups but how many people get MRI's or a Cat>...on the reg. Not until we start losing our motor skills.

So sorry to hear about your kid.

And to add to what you said, many folks don't realize but a kid's skull isn't fully developed until somewhere in their earily teens. By the time some kids start playing football in Pee-Wee leagues, they are already banging their heads because kids by nature are reckless. This is where the concern of any parent has to come in. Do they want their kid to spend another how many years of their lives doing what they are doing.

I love the game of football but it's a dangerous sport by nature.

If I had a kid he could do whatever hobby or play whatever sport he wanted. Gotta let kids make their own choices, I played football, I ride motorcycles. I think people including children should have fun and not worry about the risk.

Playing football in your backyard is a whole lot different than doing it for a living. When you don't feel like playing on a particular day, you don't have too.

    • Shutting out the Falcons is still a uniter for the fanbase for the most part. It's just not in the way it used to be or what it once was for  multiple reasons. People who feel like they aren't seeing enough rejoice over it are missing the point. Instances like this would carry more weight if they were more frequent against our rivals for one. For two. This place also as has been noted before has taken on an echo chamber effect the last several years where all the losing has given way to factions of fans either fully apathetic or fully doubling and tripling down in defense of the powers that be and moves and decisions that have been made. And as a result from that the huddle has also moved to a distinct complete lack of outside views and chatter that in the past had been a source of change of pace entertainment and also more importantly a uniting force for fans here to rally around each other in opposition to. We used to have a number of Falcons fans visiting here over the years and driving home how much we dislike them. Same with the Saints. We even had some visiting Bucs fans from time to time. That's all long gone. Until we get back to instances like this becoming more commonplace nothing will change.
    • If true that Renfrow is filling in for the Thielen role then they haven't had any time to develop chemistry with reps in practice. Bryce and AT had 3 years of reps under their belt with each other, we traded AT right before the season started and thrust Renfrow in there. That's not a 1:1 substitution at all, reps matter, that's the short term pains I mentioned with trading Thielen. Maybe they will get to that level but they definitely aren't there yet. I could see it flourishing the second of the season, you can already see a little bit of a connection brewing.
    • Every WR in the league can get vertical if you give them enough time. That’s not what I asked.
