First- the rumor:

NBA trade rumors suggest a Minnesota Timberwolves trade for a big man could be coming soon. The disappointment that the team has had in Derrick Williams is continuing and according to a report from Friday (Jan. 18), Wolves president David Kahn is looking to make a deal....The reason Williams is being brought up is because he is one of the main players that the Wolves have been shopping. It's possible that they could work up a deal that sends Williams and center Nikola Pekovic in the same deal.

Bobcats get Nikola Pekovic and Derrick Williams

Timberwolves get Hendo, Biz and Reggie Williams, (Portland 1st Rnd from Bobcats)

It is also believed that there could be an effort to bring in Phoenix Suns outcast Marcin Gortat but that is yet to be official confirmed. The club without a doubt are most likely to chase a forward or center before the end of the trade window.

Wouldnt mind taking a shot at Derrick Williams. Play him at the 4 and see if he works out, from what I've seen of the guy he just isnt a SF and the Wolves have been killing his trade value by playing him there. He can already hit threes about as well as Mullens and there is simply no way the rest of his game is worse than Byron

Don't think Charlotte wants an underachieving bust taking minutes away from MKG or JT and the only way to get Pek is to take on D-Will.

A more realistic scenario would be

Charlotte Receives

C- Marcin Gortat

2013 Top 10 protected pick

Suns Receive

DeSagana Diop (huge expiring contract)

Would do this yesterday, now, tomorrow.... make that happen.

I love CP8789's deal... BUT, I think Williams still has a lot of potential at the 4 and I don't see that interfering with MKG's development. Add to that, Pekovic is a legitimate big man. He is basically Gortat only younger. If we could swing a deal for Williams and Pekovic without giving up a pick, I'm all over that.

1st of all Williams plays the 4, so you dont have to worry about MKG/Taylor's minutes

2nd- you can keep dreaming that Diop and a pick will get us Gortat..

3rd- Pek is more than just a younger Gortat

Pek - 6'11, 290 lbs = a muscle bound, road graded of a beast child

avg 16 pts and 9 rebs

Gortat - 6'11 240 lbs

avg 11 pts and 9 rebs

    • I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.
    • The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.
    • We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
