Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has since confirmed in an interiew with CNBC that the studio is indeed planning a series of stand-alone character-based "Star Wars" films that will be separate from the new trilogy. Lawrence Kasdan, who penned "The Empire Strikes Back and "Return of the Jedi," and Simon Kinberg, who just wrote "X-Men: Days of Future Past" for director Bryan Singer, are currently hard at work on the spinoff projects, though of course there's no word on which characters will be involved.

This is the kind of thing that really excites me about Disney acquiring Star Wars... they can do the kind of stuff Lucas was never willing to do.

A Yoda "spin off" movie would be awesome... so would a Boba Fett, Vader, Han and Chewie, Darth Bane... etc, etc... the list goes on and on.

A Han & Chewie Origins would be really cool.... That idea gets more awesome the more I think about it, perhaps show why Greedo was going to take him to Jabba.... The Boba Fett idea was cool up until it was addressed in Episode III...

Could also do a movie like the 'Force Unleashed' games, between III & IV.... Teh possibilities are far, far from endless....

Story treatments, no. He's a decent big idea guy. Final scripts, yes. He just can't write dialogue even if his life depended on it.

I'd love for Joss to get a hold of the TV stuff and my Firefly rants would cease.

This is the best idea you have had since you last thought of me.
