Tell me what you think.....

I coach Pop Warner Football (the Panthers- WOOT) and I am getting my things together for this season.

As much time as I spend on this Pop Warner Team I can only imagine what Fox is doing.

Anyways, I am preparing my 1st speech to my team. I want this to be me footprint for myself throughout my coaching career.

This is only my 2nd season, so I feel I need a foundation for my own expectations...

Tell me what you think...

"To the players";

I will only promise you 3 things this season....

#1- I promise I will make you mad at me.

I believe in hard work. Win or lose I will not let you fail and I will not let you quit. I will push you to do your best, you deserve that.

#2- I promise to make you better.

No matter what you think of yourself, I believe in you. You would not be on this team if you didn't have courage, I will get that out of you. I promise you your hard work will pay off. You will be a better player after this season.

#3- I promise to give you my best.

With that said, I expect your best. We are a team, you are only as good as the guy beside you. Win or lose I will give you my best and I expect the same. If we do our best and give 100% thats all we need.

You should make promise #4.

Promise although they will work hard, they will have fun. Because after all, they are kids and that is ultimately what it is all about. Should be the most important thing on the list IMO.

Good Luck and make sure you have fun also!

Ya emphasize having fun over everything else.

how old are the kids ?

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
