Proudiddy's Sometimes Weekly, Semi-Monthly Recently Released to Home Media, Movie Review - "Flight"

I will be making another thread after watching "End of Watch," most likely tonight...

That being said, one movie I recently saw that doesn't deserve a thread because it was absolutely horrible was "That's My Boy." Did you find any value in that, lol?

I thought it was the worst Adam Sandler's worst movie EVER aside from the little known "Going Overboard." But, at this point in his career and with the budget he has, there was no excuse for this poor effort. The actual filming was horrible, some questionable editing/sound work, and it never had any cohesion or flow like his classics. It also didn't help that the jokes were non-existent and Andy Samberg was basically a straight man to his non-funny main character.

Oh well...

Holy poo dude, I laughed so hard throughout that entire movie. The only thing unfunny was Andy Samberg, I know he was kind of the foil in the film, but damn he was Hot Rod. So i expected more. But dude the Boston accent, him always seeming to grab a beer out of his pocket, the jokes, they all had me rolling. I can see why people would hate it though.

edit: i should add though, jack and jill was the worst movie ever made. My buddy was just like "Al, NO!!!!!"

LOL, well, I'm glad someone enjoyed it then, lol. I'm not gonna lie, I laughed a couple times, but it was nothing like his "hits" for me. To illustrate how critical I am of comedies, I am a sucker for fart gags... In Click, when he paused the Hoff and farted in that dude's face and proceeded to slap the ish out of him, I laughed until I cried. In Ted, another movie I recently watched, Joel McHale ripping one when the date was over also got a hearty laugh.

So many of Sandler's movies are hilarious to me and consistently kept your attention throughout, I just didn't feel that with That's My Boy.

Man, I'm starting to feel like the Film Grinch up in this piece.

Sometimes it depends on who you are watching it with.

Damn I forgot about Virtuosity, some movies are so bad their just good. John Lithgow as the villain in Ricochet was pretty fugging awesome too. The 90's man... Honestly I can't think of a Denzel movie that I don't like.

Oh and Adam Sandler hasn't done poo since Big Daddy.

P.S. if you don't like End Of Watch you suck Proudiddy. Michael Pena bro..

So you watching movies is like going back to work... ugh.

only if they're bad... it really takes a lot for me to suspend my disbelief... but i still love movies... so if something's really good i can still get into it. maybe even more-so.

like if you're a carpenter... you can walk into a house... if the work is shiatty then you see all the problems and have a difficult time seeing past them to the functionality of the house... that despite it's flaws it serves a purpose. But if something's really well built... you enjoy it even more and can derive pleasure from it in a way that most people can't... because you understand how much extra work was put in to make it "just right."

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
