Game 21: Carolina Hurricanes (11-8-1) @ Florida Panthers (6-10-5) (6:00 P.M Start)

Recommended Posts

The Carolina Hurricanes are back at it again (on Alex Semin's birthday) taking on the Florida Panthers in the sun state. The Canes have called up Brett Sutter due to the fact that Andreas Nodl and Zac Dalpe have suffered severe injuries and will be out for quite some time.

The Canes will be without Chad LaRose (concussion), Joni Pitkanen (lower body), Tim Brent (lower body).

The Canes will roll with the following line-up...

Tlusty- E. Staal - Semin

Wallace - J. Staal - Skinner

Jokinen - Nash - Dwyer

Bowman - Sutter - Westgarth

Harrison - Faulk

Gleason - Corvo

Sanguinetti - McBain

Ward

Ellis (ill)

Inactive: None

Injured: LaRose, Pitkanen, Brent

The Panthers on the other hand have called up AHL goalie Jacob Markstrom who will potentially get the start in favor of Clemmensen who played horribly last night. However, Markstrom's goalie equipment has yet to arrive to the arena.

The Panthers will be without Jose Theodore, Dmitry Kulikov, Ed Jovanovski, Mike Weaver, Scottie Upshall, Kirs Versteeg, and Michael Caruso.

Go Canes!!!

Game Recap

Carolina Hurricanes (12-8-1)

Tonight was a night all about role reversals. Dan Ellis was scheduled to make the start in net for the Canes tonight, but an illness forced the team to go with red-hot net-minder Cam Ward. However, about half way through the second, Cam Ward went down when Hurricane defense-man Justin Faulk collided with him. Ward was evaluated with a leg injury and did not return. The Hurricanes were forced to put in Dan Ellis who played pretty well for being under the weather, but he did surrender two goals on 21 shots. The Canes were the better team for a period and half as Faulk, Semin (Happy Birthday Sasha), and Jordan Staal lit the lamp, but for the second period and a half, the Panthers were clearly the better team. Luckily Ellis was playing well and the game was already decided by then. If the Canes want to keep this winning strek alive they need to put forth a full effort every night, much like they did against Pittsburgh on Thursday and Florida on Saturday.
